The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is pleased to announce the posting of the National Organic Program's (NOP) response to the National Organic Standards Board's (NOSB) spring 2015 recommendations. We are also happy to announce a Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) webinar on the environmental benefits of organic agriculture.
 
NOP Response to NOSB Spring 2015 Recommendations
  
At its spring 2015 meeting, the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB), a citizen advisory committee, made a number of recommendations concerning the USDA organic standards and National List. The NOP has posted a response to these recommendations.   
Webinar on the Environmental Benefits of Organic Agriculture

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is hosting a four-part webinar series exploring the environmental benefits of organic agriculture. The series is moderated by Betsy Rakola, Organic Policy Advisor, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Washington, DC.
 
The fourth and final webinar in the series, entitled "Environmental Benefits of Organic Agriculture:  Water Quality," will be on September 23 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. EST.  It will present scientific research examining the water quality benefits of organic farming practices.  The speaker will be Cynthia Cambardella, Ph.D., Research Soil Scientist, National Laboratory for Agriculture and the Environment, USDA Agricultural Research Service, Ames, IA.
