The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announces the display of the "National Organic Program (NOP) - Origin of Livestock" Proposed Rule, and reminds you of an April 29 webinar.

Origin of Livestock Proposed Rule

 

The "National Organic Program (NOP) - Origin of Livestock" Proposed Rule is now on public inspection on the Federal Register website. The rule will publish on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 and the public comment period will begin on that day.

Public comments on this Proposed Rule will be accepted from April 28 to July 27, 2015; comments are to be submitted through  www.regulations.gov 

Webinar Reminder: April 29 - Resources for Organic Producers Selling Local Foods 

                  

On Wednesday, April 29th at 1:00 pm Eastern time, the USDA Organic Working Group will host a webinar

highlighting USDA's resources for organic producers marketing local foods. Many farmer's markets and CSA customers appreciate knowing the organic certification status of their farmers and vendors, and many organic producers are seeking ways to market their products to local customers. Join us to learn about organic certification, labeling, and online directories of local markets.
