The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is pleased to announce a new webinar for organic producers selling local foods is scheduled for April 29, 2015, and previously recorded webinars are available.
In addition, the USDA Farmers Market is seeking organic vendors for the 2015 market season.
April 29 Webinar: Resources for Organic Producers Selling Local Foods
On Wednesday, April 29th at 1:00 pm Eastern time, the USDA Organic Working Group will host a webinar highlighting USDA's resources for organic producers marketing local foods. Many farmer's markets and CSA customers appreciate knowing the organic certification status of their farmers and vendors, and many organic producers are seeking ways to market their products to local customers. Join us to learn about organic certification, labeling, and online directories of local markets.

The USDA Farmers Market located on the National Mall in Washington, DC is seeking organic vendors for the 2015 market season. Farmers, growers, and producers located in the Chesapeake Bay region (including the states of Delaware, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia), and preferably within a 200-mile radius of the District of Columbia, are eligible.
Applications will be considered for: baker, dairy product maker, fisherman/waterman, food concessions, meat processor, pasta maker, soap maker, Chesapeake Bay area specialty crop producer, and value added food producers.
In lieu of market fees, vendors support the USDA gleaning/food recovery initiative.
Applications due by 12:00 a.m. midnight Eastern Time on April 9, 2015. Essential application information is available at www.usda.gov/farmersmarket.
