The 2014 Cost Share Report to Congress is now available on the National Organic Program (NOP) website. The report shows that in 2013, the 15 states participating in the Agricultural Management Assistance (AMA) cost share program had provided $1,335,595 in cost-share assistance to 2,687 organic producers.

All 50 states and U.S. territories will be eligible to participate in the reauthorized Cost Share program in 2014. Look for more information on that program soon!

Organic Seed Webinar

Join eOrganic and the Organic Seed Alliance for a webinar on "Understanding the NOP Seed Rule and Sourcing Organic Seed." The webinar is on Friday, June 6, 2014, at 11 am Eastern Time. It is designed for organic certifiers, inspectors, and operations, and is free and open to the public. Advance registration is required.

The webinar will cover the availability of organic seed, as well as the National Organic Program's 2013 guidance that clarifies the organic seed regulatory requirements.

The presenters are Kristina Hubbard of the Organic Seed Alliance, Emily Brown Rosen of the USDA National Organic Program, Zea Sonnabend of California Certified Organic Farmers and the National Organic Standards Board and Cullen Carns-Hilliker of the Midwest Organic Services Association. They will share their perspectives on enforcing organic seed requirements, and recommendations for encouraging increased sourcing of organic seed. Finally, participants will be introduced to tools and resources that support organic seed sourcing and production.

This webinar is supported by a contract from the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service's National Organic Program.
