Greetings Alumni and Friends!
Greetings Bobcats!
I hope you are doing well wherever you are and that things are going your way!
We kicked off the 2016 football season last week with a bang. It was an exciting week to say the least capped off by a fantastic Hall of Fame dinner, ceremony, and of course a thrilling victory over the EMCC Lions.
This year's inductees were David Hopper, Ray Ishee, Rebecca Patrick, and "Boots" Jordan. It was apparent that each of them had a heart for service and for influencing the lives of young people.
The game was thrilling one as well, as we won over EMCC, 27-25. It was the beginning of the Steve Buckley era at JCJC. This week the team travels to Moorhead to take on MDCC.
We also unveiled our new video scoreboard and sound system. It was apparent that the crowd loved the new additions to Bobcat Stadium.
Homecoming is set for Saturday, October 15th. We will get things started that morning with our annual brunch, followed by a parade, pep rally, and all the usual fun activities. More details to come as we near that time. We will face Pearl River in the game at 2 pm so make your plans to attend the annual "Cat Fight".
There is plenty of football between now and then, so come on out and support the Bobcats. Our next home game is Thursday, September 15th, when we face Coahoma. Tailgating starts at 4:30 and the game kicks off at 7. We hope to see you then!

Go Bobcats!

Alumni Accomplishment-Rudolph Sellers
Congratulations!  to JCJC alumnus, Rudolph Sellers of George County. The school board president, Barkley Henderson (pictured on the right of Sellers) recently presented the long time basketball coach with a plaque in honor of the renaming of the basketball gym to the "Rudolph Sellers Gymnasium."
Coach Sellers directed the basketball program in Lucedale for 35 years. Among the many honors he racked up include being inducted into the 2013 Mississippi Association of Coaches Hall of Fame.  Coach Sellers is also listed in the 1988-1989 edition of Who's Who of American High School Basketball Coaches and he was named the Conference Coach of the Year 12 times and the Division 8-4A Coach of the Year four times.
Even with all of those honors, Coach Sellers said naming the gym after him was the most special honor, "because it was local."

Alumni Accomplishment-Taylor Yowell
Congratulations! to Taylor Yowell a 2005 graduate of Madison Central High

School and JCJC graduate for making a difference by providing an option to eat healthy with his creation of the Garden Farmacy. The civil engineering technology major was employed with Warnock & Associates engineering firm when in 2011 he became interested in improving his health. He eventually took the leap of faith into the world of organic farming and now provides produce and herbs to restaurants and farmers markets in the Jackson area.
Eventually, Yowell said he would like to diversify his Garden Farmacy operation on the three acres at the Livingston development by expanding the vegetable farm to include fruit trees, flowers and herbs.

   Do you remember when...

In 2008, the new Jones OneCard System was initiated during the fall semester?
The OneCard replaced the JCJC ID Card allowing students access to the library, fitness center and athletic events.  It is also used as a debit card for purchases in the cafeteria, bookstore, vending machines and at several merchants in Jones County.
