reetings Alumni and Friends!
Wow! The excitement is building as we near the fall semester! Our staff is already busy working on numerous fall semester events. And, of course, there is plenty of activity on the football field.
Coach Buckley has the team busy running drills and working out as they prepare for the fall campaign. I know I can speak for those of us on campus that have been here all summer...we can hardly wait! If you want to keep up with what's going on with the team, just log onto jcfootballrecruiting.com. You will find updates on practice and team activities.
You will want to mark your calendars for "Meet the Bobcats" for sure. MTB will be held on Monday, August 29th, 7 p.m. at Sim Cooley Field. When you get here that evening you will of course notice the new scoreboard featuring a 10' x 32' video screen. The new board is being installed as I write this greeting to you, our loyal fans. It will no doubt give our stadium an entirely new look and feel. Who knows, you may even see yourself up on the big screen!
Our first home game is Thursday, September 1st, as we host East Mississippi. We will honor our four Sports Hall of Fame inductees at that game.
I know I have mentioned this before, but repetition is the key to remembering something. Be sure to connect with us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.  You can find us on Facebook -@jcjcalumnifoundation, Instagram- jcjcfoundation_alumni, and Twitter -@JCAdvancement. We will be keeping you informed more and more via social media. Be sure to like, follow, and tweet! You can even re-tweet if you like!
Many of you have already returned your Alumni & Bobcat Club memberships and dues.  If you have not, please get those in as soon as possible. If you did not receive you packet, please contact us at 601-477-4145 and we will get a packet out to you ASAP. Alumni Accomplishments-Jody Babineaux/Black Cat Baseball
Congratulations to Jody Babineaux and the Laurel Black Cat Little League team as they will be playing for the (13-14 year old age bracket) Little League Southwest Regional Championship. Also, over the weekend, the college-aged team he coaches, the Laurel Black Cats made its first appearance in the National Baseball Congress playing in the Summer College World Series.
As League President, owner and manager of the Laurel Black Cats since 2010, the 2006 JCJC graduate and former JCJC baseball assistant, created the 13-14 year old team this year. So far, the team has captured its first State and District 1 Championship with a sweep over Hattiesburg in a best of three championship series in July. The Laurel Little League team will now play in the Southwest Regional Championship in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, August 5-9 with the hopes of making it to the Little League Junior World Series in Taylor, Michigan.
At the SW Regionals, the Laurel Black Cat team will play in a double elimination tournament against the champions from Colorado, Louisiana, two teams from New Mexico, and East and West Texas teams.  The Laurel team is the first team from Mississippi to play in a regional game at the junior level. They play against East Texas at noon on August 5.
Babineaux explained, as the baseball coach for the Laurel Middle School Baseball team there was a need for players who had the skills to play at a competitive level.
Babineaux has also been coaching the older, college-aged Laurel Black Cats team for the past 10 years. JCJC's Marcus Hardy plays on that team. Additionally, Babineaux said the college team members mentor the young, junior league players.
Under Babineaux's leadership the Laurel Black Cats have enjoyed success on and off the field with players continuing their baseball careers at D-1 colleges.
