Perkins Resigns: Thornton Takes the Reigns

After being named the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Coach of the Year, JCJC head football coach Ray Perkins resigned over the holidays. JCJC President, Dr. Jesse Smith named David Thornton (right), who has been the offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach and recruiting coordinator for the past two years at JCJC, as the interim head coach, pending board approval later this month. Alumnus Donates to Educators' Memorial Scholarship

La urel native and JCJC 2006 computer information systems graduate, Chris Hill visited campus recently and left a gift for the JCJC Foundation Inc. He handed Caroline Ramagos, JCJC's Executive Director of the JCJC Foundation Inc. a check to go towards his mentor's scholarship fund. JCJC CIST instructor and division chair, Dr. Paul Hollomon died one-year ago and a memorial scholarship was set up in his memory. Congratulations!! to Brook Jones, a 1999 JCJC graduate. The 34-year old chief executive officer and founder of the Red Door Marketing Agency in Laurel has opened another office in Hattiesburg. As the Agency celebrates its one-year anniversary, Jones added staff to expand her full-service marketing, public relations, design and consulting company. Her mission at Red Door Marketing is to help business owners and marketers get the most out of their marketing efforts.
The Wayne County native transferred from JCJC and earned her bachelor's degree in communication with an emphasis in public relations from Mississippi State University in 2001. Jones' clientele includes local and international businesses and her agency is a partner in the "Give a Child a New Book Day" with the Favre 4 Hope Foundation, Salvation Army, and the University of Southern Mississippi's Friends of the University Libraries group.
