JCJC Chemistry Students Present Nationally
|
JCJC organic chemistry instructor, Dr. Giselle Marks and five of her students have made a mark among polymer researchers and industry leaders with their presentations at a national conference this summer. With the University of Southern Mississippi as a partner, select JCJC students have been working by the side of university researchers and showing their work to their peers for the third straight year. MSU 2+2 Agreement
|
JCJC's Agriculture Science students entering into the poultry industry in Mississippi have jobs waiting on them and Mississippi State University is so eager to have them attend classes in Starkville a new 2+2 agreement between the two colleges will now ensure students will have a "seamless" transfer to Mississippi State. After summer graduation ceremonies, MSU President Dr. Mark Keenum and JCJC President, Dr. Jesse Smith signed the agreement with industry leaders and local poultry producers, Sanderson Farms executives, JCJC Agricultural Science students and faculty, along with the MSU poultry science department head and professors witnessing the partnership. Congratulations!!! to the three newest members of the JCJC Sports Hall of Fame. Former JCJC Athletic Director and football player in 1962-63, George Harrison, along with 2001-02 JCJC football player and NFL Atlanta Falcons and Chicago Bear's defensive end, Chauncy Davis and Jackie Parker who played for the 1950-51 football teams which earned a state title and the baseball teams that earned a South Division title and a state and runner up title. Meet the Bobcats and Braves
|
The community had the chance to meet both the South Jones High School Braves and the JCJC Bobcats event at the Community Bank Park, in downtown Ellisville. Voice of the Bobcats, Mark Easley introduced the Bobcat cheerleaders, football and soccer players after the South Jones coaches introduced their athletes. Band Exhibition
|
The 180-member Maroon Typhoon Marching Band blew the crowd away with a preview of its new show, "Bonded!," featuring hits from the iconic James Bond movies. Under the direction of the the new Director of Bands, Jonathan Helmick, the band performed a few traditional and new songs at its annual Band Exhibition. Alumni Accomplishment-Charlotte Owens
|
Congratulations!!! to Charlotte Owens a 2011 JCJC graduate. The non-traditional student not only came back to college and received her degree from JCJC, she continued onto MSU and studied in Spain during her senior year. The mother of five children was the focus of a MSU feature story highlighting the "People of the People's State." The inspirational story of the 2013 May MSU graduate shares her plans to continue to inspire kids as an elementary school teacher.

Alumni Accomplishment- Patrick Hand
|
Congratulations!!! to Patrick Hand of Willmar, MN who is now living in Oak Grove, MS as he begins his music career as the new Assistant Band Director for the Warriors. The 2011 JCJC graduate and recent USM graduate played trumpet for the Maroon Typhoon marching band. The new Oak Grove instructor was also a member of the JCJC Concert Choir and the select vocal group, JC Voices.
Hand recently returned to campus to see the Maroon Typhoon's annual Band Exhibition.

Wayne County Center classes
|
 Non-credit classes are now being offered at the Wayne County Center in Waynesboro. Course options include Introduction to Personal Computers, Windows7 and Microsoft Excel 2010 Basic. CEU's are available for computer courses upon request. The deadline to register is one week before classes begin.
Microsoft Excel 2010 Basic will begin on Thursday, October 17, through November 14, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Interested students can register in person at the Wayne County Center at 103 Collins Street in Waynesboro, or by calling 601-735-2228 or emailing Melanie.james@jcjc.edu. Ireland Voyage
| Visit Ireland with the JCJC Alumni Association and friends as they take a Grand Tour of the beautiful green country March 5, through March 15, 2014. Wander through Dublin, Belfast, Letterkenny, Drumkeen, Galway, the cliffs of Moher, Limerick, Waterford, Croke Park Stadium, and watch a soccer game with the JCJC Lady Soccer Team.
