Congratulations!!! to the Lady Bobcat Softball Team!!!
For the second consecutive year, the Lady Bobcat Softball team has won the MACJC State Championship. After Regional play, they finished second and qualified once again for the Division II World Series, where they went 2-2 and finished in the top six. The Lady Bobcats ended the season 44-10.

In post-season honors, pitcher Samantha Buller, a freshman from Iowa, La., was named an NJCAA Division II third-team All-American. She was also named All-Region 23 earlier this month.

Marketing Receives Awards

the annual College Public Relations Association of Mississippi conference. The team won five first place honors, seven second place awards and one third place accolade. For the third straight year, JCJC alumnus Shawn Wansley won first place for Best Sports Story and this was the fourth time for him to win first place in six years of competition.
JCJC alumnus, webmaster, director and producer, Jared Meyers won top honors for the Charles Pickering Honors Institute web page and second place for the JCJC.TV web page. Meyers and JCJC alumnus, Tyler Cook's multi-media presentation on the Honors College took first place in that category, as well as second place honors for the multi-media presentation, "We Don't Want to Choke So Just Don't Smoke," with the assistance of JCJC alumnus and graphic designer Gabe Bozeman. Meyers and Bozeman captured first place in the Digital Art/Photo Illustration category for their 2012 President's Report Cover.
The entire Marketing Department, consisting of Marlo Dorsey, JCJC alumna Kelly Atwood, Bozeman, Teresa Martin, alumna Rebecca Patrick, Meyers and Wansley, won second place with its President's Report, "Celebrating 100 Years."
The team, along with Cook won first place for the "Smith County Courthouse Centennial" magazine in the Creative Partners category. Second place honors in the Creative Partners category were also given to members of the marketing and math departments for the "Bobcat Math League" entry. The two departments worked together on the launch of the unique marketing campaign and media coverage of the first JCJC Bobcat Math League competition during fall 2012.
The JCJC "Be Great" TV and radio commercials, and the television program, "2012 Basketball Media Day" won second place. The "President's Forum" earned third place accolades.

Spring Graduation

 JCJC President and alumnus, Dr. Jesse Smith addressed the family and friends of the more than 500 graduating students at the Spring Commencement, encouraging them to succeed despite obstacles that may come their way. Retired Faculty
|
Congratulations!!! to the twelve Jones County Junior College employees who were recently honored for their service to JCJC at the annual Retirement Tea. These faculty and staff members have almost 253 years of combined experience at Jones.
Nelda Creel is retiring as the Industrial Services secretary but has worked for several departments for 32 years at JCJC. Science instructor Carol Bergin has worked at Jones for 21 and-a-half years. RN instructor Jean Easterling joined the faculty at Jones 18 years ago to begin teaching nursing students at JCJC. Dean Hamm leaves Jones after nearly 13 years in transportation and special projects. Lisa Headrick will end her science teaching career with 24 years at JCJC. Counselor Sandy Hendrix is retiring after six years. With 28 years, Debbie Hinton retired after serving as an IT instructor and Tech Prep coordinator. James Jones logged 19 years in the machine shop teaching students. Civil engineering instructor Philip Ray is retiring with 13 years. For 33 years, Gary Sanford painted everything on campus. Drafting and design instructor, Ray Smith is leaving Jones with 28 years and electronics technology instructor, Jerry Turner retires with 17 and-a-half years.

1961 Football Reunion
| Eleven members of 1961 Football team celebrated with their wives in Gatlinburg, TN, for their seventh annual reunion. The group is trying to endow a scholarship at JCJC and they also discussed meeting again during JCJC's Homecoming in October. To read more click on the links: Reunion Update

Ireland Voyage
| Visit Ireland with the JCJC Alumni Association and friends as they take a Grand Tour of the beautiful green country March 5, through March 15, 2014. Wander through Dublin, Belfast, Letterkenny, Drumkeen, Galway, the cliffs of Moher, Limerick, Waterford, Croke Park Stadium, and watch a soccer game with the JCJC Lady Soccer Team.
