Here's what's happening at Jones!
More than 300 JCJC students, faculty, staff and community members like Kelin Ferril stuck out a 'paw' for the annual spring blood drive. Signs of Spring have begun to show as flowers bloom on campus and the purple wisteria begin covering the arbors. Cooler weather than normal has slowed this year's colorful blossoming.

Bobcats and Belichick
| It was a special evening with Bill Belichick and some local stars when the JCJC Foundation Inc.,Football Support Fund and head football coach Ray Perkins hosted the New England Patriots head coach for a fundraiser in Hattiesburg. VP of Advancement and Executive Director of the JCJC Foundation Inc., Caroline Ramagos said the pre-event silent auction was also very successful. The generosity of our JCJC donors and friends will help to provide a bright future for Jones and its student athletes. HEADWAE-Mary Boleware
| Receiving the Higher Education Appreciation Day, Working for Academic Excellence award is a special honor for one Community-Junior College faculty member and a student. This year, JCJC physics instructor Mary Boleware and student, Kristen Hallman represented Jones at a luncheon at the Capital. Congratulations! to Jason Dedwylder, a 1998 JCJC graduate from Quitman. He will be leaving his position as Director of External Funding at JCJC to become the Director of the new Wayne County Center. He will be overseeing operations in Waynesboro, including the Grand Opening of the Center. No date has been set for the official opening but we hope to have the Center ready for fall classes. While at JCJC, Dedwylder was the SGA President, Maroon Typhoon Drum Major, and he was selected for Hall of Fame and Who's Who. After graduating from MSU, he worked for Congressman Pickering and for a government relations firm prior to moving back home and beginning his career at JCJC. Pictured with Dedwylder is Brian Ginn, who will be the new External Funding Director. He will also continue to handle the college's Energy Education and Conservation program.

Alumni Accomplishment-Dr. Stephanie Tullos, D.D.S.
|
Congratulations! to Dr. Stephanie Sullivan Tullos for being appointed President of the Mississippi Association of Women Dentists. The 1995 graduate of Mize Attendance Center continued her education at Jones County Junior College. She served as President of the Rho Sigma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society at JCJC and received the Presidential Leadership Scholarship to Mississippi College. Dr. Tullos graduated Magna Cum Laude and earned her B.S. degree in biology. She was accepted into dental school at the University of MS Medical Center in Jackson and graduated from the UMC School of Dentistry in May 2003.
For the last ten years she has been practicing in Raleigh at the office she opened, Tullos Family Dentistry. Dr. Tullos and her husband, Evan, are the proud parents of 2 daughters, Tori age 8 and Alex age 6.

JCJC's PBL business honor society members are headed to national competition after winning 10 categories in the state competition. Eighteen Jones County Junior College members of Phi Beta Lambda headed to state competition in Natchez with a confidence like never before and came back to Ellisville big winners. PBL sponsor and business instructor David Ray explained 14 students qualified for national competition, which is a great improvement over past years.

The 3-man scramble begins with breakfast and registration at 7 a.m. with a shot-gun start at 8:45 a.m. Door prizes and the Magnolia Real Estate's million dollar hole-in-one contest are sure to provide lots of fun for all and the proceeds fund JCJC scholarships. Spring has sprung! With the flowers sprouting from the cold hard ground just in time for the seventh annual JCJC Garden Symposium. This years event features John David Williams of Hattiesburg and Dr. G. Clark, a professor from the University of Florida's Horticulture Department.  JCJC recently hosted the 25th Annual Mississippi Community/Junior college Art Instructor Association Student Competition at the Eula Bass Lewis Art Gallery. Six JCJC students won awards with two students earning first place blue ribbons and cash awards. To read more click on the link: State Student Art Competition held at JCJC The public is invited to the annual Spring Recital Series featuring weekly Friday recitals in the chapel at 12:30 p.m. For the list of performers and times click on the link: Spring Recital Series Thirteen sophomore music majors will be performing their last solo recitals during the month of April. On Monday, April 8, at 7 p.m. in the JCJC chapel,  Kristie Reddoch of Hebron and Wesley Barnett of Laurel will feature their voices while Patience Coats of Gitano will play the piano and Ellisville's Kevin Sherman will play saxophone. The final sophomore recital will be on April 15 with Kaitlin Smith of Meridian on horn, Thomas Ranshaw on piano, Stanley Taylor on saxophone and Chance Ragsdale on voice.

in 1999 when Robert McInnis, Sam Jones and Sandra Sumrall all began their coaching careers at Jones? McInnis was the head coach of the men's team with Jones as his assistant, and Sumrall coached the ladies team.
