CPA's establish scholarship
  The Southeast Chapter of the Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants recently presented a $2,500 scholarship check to the Jones County Junior College Foundation, Inc. 
  These funds will establish a scholarship for Jones County Junior College sophomores studying accounting.

Basketball Bobcats Head to State
 Both Bobcat Basketball teams have been playing for a chance to earn a state title this week with the state championship games tonight, Thursday,

February 28, at Pearl River CC.   However they were unsuccessful in the state play offs but still have a chance at Regionals.
  The Lady Bobcats fell to Northeast CC in the semi-finals on Wednesday and the men lost in the first round on Tuesday. Here's the State Tournament Wrap-up story.
   The ladies went into the contest in the 4th seed slot and beat Northwest CC by 27 points. The men were 2nd seed contenders  and lost in the first round to MS Delta, 71-68, in the last five seconds.

Bobcat Love-Tornado Recovery
  On a day devoted to expressing love, numerous Bobcats besieged the Petal-Hattiesburg area to help fellow Bobcats and friends clean up from the February

10 tornadoes.  A few days after the storm, the college held a three-day Supply Drive to send to victims in need. 
  Administrators, faculty, staff, coaches and students all gathered to help the downtown Hattiesburg area recover.  Volunteers continue to return to the area offering a helping hand in the efforts to restore the Pine Belt. 
  JCJC student, Billy Mauldin was affected by the storm and wrote a song and edited a video with storm pictures, which landed him a feature spot on WDAM-TV's, "Build This City: A Red Cross Tornado Relief Telethon."

Bobcats and Belichick
belichick small 2-13  There's still time to get your tickets for "Bobcats and Belichick."  This special event will be Tuesday, March 26, at 7:30 p.m. at the Hattiesburg Lake Terrace Convention Center.
  The Patriots head coach is the special guest of JCJC Bobcat Football head coach, Ray Perkins.  This special evening will include a silent auction with proceeds going towards the JCJC Foundation, Inc. Football Support Fund.

Alumni Association Golf Tournament
  The 14th Annual JCJC Alumni Association Golf Tournament is set

for Friday, April 5, at Dixie Golf Club.   The 3-man scramble begins with breakfast and registration at 7 a.m. with a shot-gun start at 8:45 a.m.
  Door prizes and the Magnolia Real Estate's million dollar hole-in-one contest are sure to provide lots of fun for all and the proceeds fund JCJC scholarships.

Spring Musical
   The JCJC spring musical will be anything but ordinary and normal!  This year's play is set in 1938 in a small, North Carolina Smoky Mountain church with a cast consisting of only ten people. The play, Smoke on the Mountain is sure to bring lots of laughs and maybe a few tears.
   Performances will be in two Jones County churches on Saturday and Sunday March 2-3, 2013.  Click on the link for details and more about the play:

  Do you know someone who has contributed to JCJC as a coach, hall of fame poster  athlete, or individual and deserve to be in the Athletic Hall of Fame? 
We are now taking nominations for the Athletic Hall of Fame 2013.  Click on the link below for information on the nomination process and application.

Scholarship Opportunities
  If you have a student who will be enrolled at Jones full-time during Fall 2013 and Spring 2014, and he/she has a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA, that student may be eligible for a Foundation Scholarship.
 The Deadline to apply is April 1, 2013.  Click on the link to apply:  Sophomore Foundation Scholarship Application.

*Kody Alon James and Tayloer Nicole Ainsworth will exchange vows on March 2, at 4 p.m. at Summerland Baptist Church.  Ainsworth is a 2008 graduate of Taylorsville, a 2010 graduate of JCJC, and a 2012 graduate of USM.

 

*Jeffery Noah Johnson and Desarae Marie Jensen are making plans for an April 6, 2013 wedding at the Lauren Rogers-Green House in Laurel.  Jensen graduated from JCJC's Agricultural Science program. 

 

*Eric Vincent Graham and Britney Rose Young will exchange vows on April 6 at Williamsburg Baptist Church in Collins.  she is a 2008 graduate from Seminary H.S. and a 2012 JCJC graduate.
