A word from your Chapter President

Welcome to SN-ICC 2013

I am truly honored to serve as your Chapter President for this next year. The installation Banquet was a wonderful success where we were privileged to install Mike Teemant and David Goldstein as our newest members of the Executive Board. Mike is currently a Plans Examiner with the City of Las Vegas and David is an Associate/ Senior Partner at Geo Tek.

In this next year the Executive Board is committed to provide programs that reach the heart of the community. Through EduCode International, The Toddler Swimming Grant Program, The ICC Technical Training Program, The College Scholarship Program, and many others. We will be looking for you the membership, to be proposing new programs that will increase our vision for the future.

I encourage you, "Our Members "to ask yourself where your passion lies within this organization and to participate in making this year the greatest year to date. It was said to me "Don't set our goals to a good year, set them to a great year", and we need your help.

I am dedicated in making your priorities as our members my priorities as your President.  We will send a questionnaire, asking you what you would like to see in SNICC 2013, and we will work towards those goals.

I look forward to my continued participation this year and I welcome any and all comments. Thank you again for allowing me this opportunity to serve this Chapter and to serve you.

Chapter President

Valarie Loper

A message from the new Public Outreach Chair!

They say to walk a mile you need to take the first step, well this is my first step as Chair of the Public Outreach Committee, and I do need your help and assistance this year. As you know I will follow in the footsteps of our Energized President Valarie Loper, I hope I have a portion of the energy she had to manage this committee.

For those of you who may not know me I am David Goldstein, I am a Senior Associate at GeoTek, Inc. I have been with GeoTek since 1997, and a partner within the organization. Prior to that time I was a developer/homebuilder for many years working for such companies as American Nevada Corporation (early years of Green Valley), Pardee Homes, Richmond American Homes and Signature Homes. I have previously served on the Board of the Southern Nevada Homebuilders, and presently also serve on the National Education Committee of AGC. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any information regarding the Public Outreach Committee.

At one of the last Board meetings I presented some of the items I would like to see happen with the committee over the first 6 months of this year, they are:
  • February/March-Start working on the Scholarship Program, with final reviews in the latter part of March
  • February-Toddler Swim Program, start preparing agendas, distribute funds to the various municipalities
  • March-EduCode: assist as required, exhibit SNICC Booth at conference
  • March-Start work on Building Safety Month (especially Amnesty Program)
  • May: Building Safety Month
  • June: Start working on Chapter of the Year Application
Your participation in any event would be greatly appreciated as we proceed. I am willing to make this 'first step' I just need some partners...hopefully you will assist.

If you have a question, or want to get involved with the Public Outreach Committee contact David Goldstein

Finance
Finance Committee Update

The Finance Committee reviews the finances and assets of the Chapter and provides quarterly reports to the Chapter members.  The committee's goal this year is to revise our current budget cycle of January 1 to December 31 to  a cycle of July 1 to June 30.  This change will provide for a more accurate budget based upon the results of the EduCode Conference which typically occurs annually in February or March.  The EduCode Conference is our largest budget item in terms of expenditures and revenue.

The committee consists of Ray Finkel, Mo Jadid, Don White and Dave Pasquinelli.

Respectfully submitted,

Dave Pasquinelli

Finance and Assets Committee Chair
