In 1956, a young public relations professional made a cold call to an aspiring Chicago businessman with a few hamburger stands. More than 50 years have passed and those stands have evolved into McDonald's. The PR professional, Al Golin, now founder and chairman of GolinHarris, shared insight with a group of up-and-coming communicators who attended the Public Relations Leadership Forum at his company's headquarters last week. In a recent post, I offered "communicative equations" as a way PR managers can better understand network challenges. It is a concept we can use to explain the new issues the network society and network organizations are bringing to the PR practice and to the governance of relationships with stakeholders.
