Family comes first. Within an organization, this idea is true, too. For internal public relations, then, telling the family first is primary so the family does not hear about it from other, external sources. Research on Workplace Friendship Maintenance

This three-part study consisting of focus groups and surveys investigated how organizational members maintain peer friendships. Results show practitioners can help employees maintain their friendships and strengthen their relationships with other employees by developing communication methods perceived as polite and considerate of their coworkers.
