PASTOR'S CORNER

We speak and sing of divine transformation while we do everything in our power to maintain our equilibrium. If redeeming things continue to happen to us in spite of these deep contradictions in our life together, then I think that is because God is faithful even when we are not"

Barbara Brown Taylor, Leaving Church: A Memoir of Faith

This quote from Barbara Brown Taylor is a powerful reminder that our thoughts are not God's thoughts and our plans are not God's plans.  We are confronted with the reality that we seek comfort in the familiar over the uncertainty that comes whenever God is doing a new thing.  The challenge that we all face in our journey of faith is to be open to the new things that God is doing in our lives, in our community, and in the world.  This can seem overwhelming at times; at times we don't know that we can do it. This can be scary.  But here is the good news, God is with us either way.  So pray for the members of our church, for those who are not here yet, and for our community.  Ask God to transform us and to give us strength of faith as we are transformed.

In Easter joy,

George
