PASTOR'S CORNER

It is Wednesday. Jesus is preaching in the temple while the Pharisees plot to have him killed.

It is Thursday.  The Passover is prepared and he shares a meal with his closest friends and the one who would betray him.

It is Friday. Abandoned, beaten, denied, Jesus goes to the cross.

It is Saturday, Jesus' lifeless body lies in the tomb.

May we endure this Holy Week in the anticipation of Easter resurrection!

In the name of the Risen Lord,

George

Maundy Thursday Worship Experience

April 17

Please invite your friends and neighbors to join us for Maundy Thursday Worship Experience.

At 6:30 pm, April 17, we will gather to share a meal and re-embody the Last Supper that Jesus shared with those whom he loved. Mediterranean Grill will cater the dinner with plenty of chicken, salad, rice, pita, dates and nuts for everyone to enjoy.

After the meal we will head into the sanctuary for scripture reading and a stripping of the sanctuary. It is a powerful service where the symbols of our faith are stripped from the sanctuary and the Passion of Christ is read from scripture.

Cost of Meal: $7 per person or $15 per family.

Good Friday

April 18

Good Friday is a deeply spiritual and moving reflection on the events of Maundy Thursday as we await resurrection on Easter Sunday.  We will be joining Mercy Church for Good Friday worship.

Please join us as we follow Jesus along the Way of the Cross.  Following lunch, we will walk through the Poncey-Highlands and together explore where Christ's journey to the cross meets our current context, starting in Freedom Park--our very own Garden of Gethsemane--and ending at Mercy--Jesus' darkened tomb.  Though we only walk about one mile, our walk and reflection takes about 2-2 1/2 hours.

We hope you will join us for this unique opportunity for prayer and reflection.

11am - Picnic in Freedom Park
behind Moe's; we have plenty of food to share!

12pm - Poncey-Highlands Stations of the Cross procession
     starting from our lunch spot
