PASTOR'S CORNER

Ecclesiastes 3 tells us that "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven."

Rev. Jihyun Oh has blessed us with engaging teaching, inspiring preaching, and supportive leadership for the past two years and we are grateful that God brought us all together. For those of you who may not know all that she is doing, her schedule includes full-time work as a chaplain at Grady Hospital, coursework on her Doctor of Ministry, Presbytery duties on the Committee for Preparation for Ministry, and her appointment as a Chair at the upcoming General Assembly. While she has enjoyed her time leading Sunday school, these other commitments are demanding more of her time and so she informed the class on Sunday that she will no longer be able to continue in this role.

The good news is that she will still be consulting on curriculum with the Christian Education Ministry Team, preaching on May 18th and other dates in the future, and worshipping with us from time to time. A "good-bye" doesn't seem appropriate in light of the fact that she will still be around, but I think we should all take this opportunity to express our gratitude when we see her, for all of the ways in which she has touched our lives and made Memorial Drive a great place to worship and serve God!

Maundy Thursday Worship Experience

Please invite your friends and neighbors to join us for Maundy Thursday Worship Experience.

At 6:30 pm, April 17, we will gather to share a meal and re-embody the Last Supper that Jesus shared with those whom he loved. Mediterranean Grill will cater the dinner with plenty of chicken, salad, rice, pita, dates and nuts for everyone to enjoy.

After the meal we will head into the sanctuary for scripture reading and a stripping of the sanctuary. It is a powerful service where the symbols of our faith are stripped from the sanctuary and the Passion of Christ is read from scripture.

Good Friday

April 18

Good Friday is a deeply spiritual and moving reflection on the events of Maundy Thursday as we await resurrection on Easter Sunday. We will be joining Mercy Church for Good Friday worship on the streets of Atlanta at 11 am - Freedom Park.
