PASTOR'S CORNER

Hector and I went down to Walmart because Dan, the manager, wanted to donate the unsold back-to-school supplies and wanted to get them into the community. He called us because we are out in the community making a difference!

While we were there waiting for our appointment, Hector told me that Leslie needed 6 more copies of The Upper Room this month - in addition to the 10 she is currently taking in. The Upper Room reflection she is holding before work is drawing more and more co-workers who are looking for a way to start their day off right. Discipleship and a worshipping community don't always look like church.

On Tuesday, Alan, Melanie, Doris and I were at Medlock Laundry washing the clothes that were left behind after the homeless men and women got new clothes from the clothes closet. While we were there we met a seminarian from Columbia and Kathleen Allen, a member from N. Decatur Presbyterian. Kathleen listened to our hopes for a joint ministry with Mercy Church, MDPC, and N. Decatur. "I think that there is some compassion grant money that can cover the cost of washing these clothes. She texted Rev. Lewicki and told him how it fits into their mission plan and how she was going to tell their mission council about this wonderful opportunity.

Being out in the community sharing the good news is what brings about change, equips and empowers others to live richer and fuller lives, and brings the Kingdom of Heaven a little closer to earth. My prayer is that we all find a way to show our faith in the community! To God be the glory!

 In Christ,

George
