PASTOR'S  CORNER

On the 4th Sunday of Lent I brought up recent legislation that would allow people to carry guns into churches and how the Biblical witness, if nothing else, is a narrative of life - where the impliments of war are turned into tools for cultivating life. The current level of gun violence in our society is not acceptable and as a church we stand against the culture of violence. It is a complex issue and we need to be engaged in the conversation. Our membership includes hunters, concealed carry permit holders, and military veterans, all of whom understand responsible gun ownership. Our membership also includes people who have never and never want to own or even touch a gun.

Rev. Morgan Hay of St. Andrews Church in Tucker invites us to join with other Presbyterian Churches this Sunday after worship at 3:30 pm to view:

TRIGGER: The Ripple Effect of Gun Violence shares the story of how gun violence impacts individuals and communities and addresses the critical issue of gun violence prevention by lifting up the voice and experiences of those who seek common ground and a new way forward.

We invite you and your congregation to join us to view and discuss Trigger with David Barnhart and Public Policy Advocate Wendell Phillips.

Maundy Thursday Worship Experience

Please invite your friends and neighbors to join us for Maundy Thursday Worship Experience.

At 6:30pm, March 28, we will gather to share a meal and re-embody the Last Supper that Jesus shared with those whom he loved.

Mediterranean Grill will cater the dinner for everyone to enjoy.

Please call Dil at 404-292-8212 to make your reservation.

After the meal we will go into the sanctuary for the Tenebrae Service. It is a powerful service where the symbols of our faith are stripped from the sanctuary and the Passion of Christ is read from scripture.

Good Friday

Our pastoral interns - D'Jaris and Hackwin - will lead a service of reflection and prayer beginning at 6:30pm. The liminal space and time of Good Friday is a deeply spiritual and moving reflection on the events of Maundy Thursday as we await resurrection on Easter Sunday.
