PASTOR'S CORNER
One of the new things that Brian and I have been doing is partnering to provide some mentoring for the young men of Team Edge. To be more intentional about this, Brian has carved out 15 minutes in the middle of practice for me to come and give them an inspirational talk. Meeting people where they are, instead of waiting for them to come to us, is a very clear message that Jesus sends to his disciples.
Jesus sends out 72 disciples in the 10th chapter of Luke, telling them: "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves."
They didn't know what would happen, but they went, and when they returned they reported with great joy all that had happened. Where do you see God at work in the life of the church? What brings you great joy as a member of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church? God calls each one of us to share the love, joy, hope, and peace made possible in Jesus Christ. Prayerfully ask God, "Where is my harvest field?"
In anticipation of the Resurrection

Lenten Journey with Jesus in the Desert
When: First three Wednesday evenings in March at 6:30 pm in the Donnell Building.
What: A shared meal and conversation about the the temptations in the desert.
Soup and drinks will be provided. You are welcome to bring a salad or a dessert.
We will be exploring the temptations that Jesus faced in the wilderness and how they relate to our own spiritual journey. What temptations do we face individually? What temptations do we face as a church? How can Christ's responses guide our journey of faith?
March 13th - Matthew 4:5-7
The temptation to play it safe.
March 20th - Matthew 4:8-10
The temptation of power and prestige.
On March 20 we are honored to have Prof. Stan Saunders, author of Preaching Matthew and Word on the Street, as our guest facilitator.
Lenten Bible Study
Looking forward to seeing you there!
In Christ,
George

Maundy Thursday Worship Experience
Please invite your friends and neighbors to join us for Maundy Thursday Worship Experience.
At 6:30pm, March 28, we will gather to share a meal and re-embody the Last Supper that Jesus shared with those whom he loved. Mediterranean Grill will cater the dinner with plenty of chicken, salad, rice, pita, dates, nuts, and gyro meat for everyone to enjoy.
After the meal we will head into the sanctuary for scripture reading and a stripping of the sanctuary. It is a powerful service where the symbols of our faith are stripped from the sanctuary and the Passion of Christ is read from scripture. It is a powerful worship experience!
Good Friday
Our pastoral interns - D'Jaris and Hackwin - will lead a service of reflection and prayer beginning at 6:30pm. The liminal space and time of Good Friday is a deeply spiritual and moving reflection on the events of Maundy Thursday as we await resurrection on Easter Sunday.
