Questions for Reflection

The Holy Spirit enlivens each of us with unique gifts that nurture faith

and serve the common good. To identify those gifts we can ask ourselves

such questions as, When do I feel most alive? What do I love to do? What

things, tasks, or actions fill me with a sense of purpose? What am I doing

when time seems to stand still? These questions help us discern the Spirit's

movement in our lives. Created in the image of God, each of us is uniquely

gifted to reveal divine likeness. When our deep joy is united with meaning

and purpose, vocation is birthed. How or where is God calling you?

In Prayer through the Holy Spirit,

 George

Tom Grace, Norma Lyons, June Pleasant, and Clerk of Session - Bev Monroe, are the Ruling Elders in the Class of 2013. They have faithfully led us in an exciting and challenging time in the life of the church.

Have you been faithful in a few things? Do you attend worship regularly? Do you sing, usher, or greet our guests? Have you served one of our missions or service opportunities faithfully? Have you pledged for the first time, increased your pledge in an effort to get closer to a full tithe, or having tithed, have you given above and beyond? More importantly, have these few things prepared you for leadership in the church?

In the Parable of the Talents Jesus tells of the master's response to the faithful servant, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord." In this parable the Lord recognized gifts of the faithful servant that perhaps he wasn't even aware that he had.

On one hand, you, like the faithful servant, may be surprised when you are asked to serve on the Elder Nominating Committee or Session; it is your faithfulness and gifts for leadership that are being recognized by the congregation. On the other hand, after prayerful consideration, you might feel called to share your gifts of leadership; perhaps the first sign that you are ready to lead is going to be when you say, "Here I am Lord, use me." If this is the case please contact George at 404.784.0382 to ask how you might serve the church in this process or to nominate yourself to serve.

I look forward to discerning with you all whom God has chosen to lead us into the vital and vibrant future of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church!

In the power of the Holy Spirit,

George
