PASTOR'S  CORNER

Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor. Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers.

- Romans 12:9-13

Advent is a time of preparation for the coming King of Kings on Christmas Day! Paul's address to the church in Rome reminds us what is truly important about being a Christian. Our top priority this Advent is to live and act like Christians in preparation for Christmas Day.

The "War on Christmas" isn't coming from retailers who won't let their sales clerks say "Merry Christmas" or cities that are taking down nativity scenes. The "War on Christmas" is the war we wage when we fail to live as followers of Christ!

Let us put down the implements of war and live into our calling as Christians this Advent. Listen to Paul's exhortation! Love each other! Serve the Lord! Rejoice in hope! Contribute to the needs of the saints! Welcome the stranger!

 In Anticipation,

George

AN ARTFUL EXPERIENCE OF ADVENT

Come and explore a fresh perspective for yourself during this Advent season using art materials in an intuitive way. Soul Journers Studio is offering a four week group workshop to explore the four themes of advent. This will begin November 25 and go through December 16. The actual time will be determined by the group. The workshop will meet at the Soul Journers' Studio in the Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church. Paint, clay, collage, and journaling will be used to discover what Peace, Hope, Love, Joy will mean to each of us this season. We will be loosely using the book, Christmas Gifts That Don't Break by James W. Moore and Praying in Color by Sybil MacBeth. It is not necessary to purchase these books to participate, nor do you need prior art training. To have a space, please call Sandra Tate at 404 455 8530.
