PASTOR'S CORNER
Isaiah 25:6-9
6On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wines, of rich food filled with marrow, of well-aged wines strained clear. 7And he will destroy on this mountain the shroud that is cast over all peoples, the sheet that is spread over all nations; he will swallow up death forever. 8Then the Lord God will wipe away the tears from all faces, and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken.
Isaiah is clear; God is going to utterly destroy! Judgment Day is coming! But, contrary to what you might have heard, it isn't the people God will destroy. Instead God will utterly destroy the shroud of death that is spread out over all the people. Death, the cause of so many tears, will be swallowed up forever! God will wipe away the tears from all faces and peoples! God will prepare a banquet, filled with the richest foods, so that the people can join in celebration as God restores the earth and people to goodness!
The word "saints" refers to all Christians (Ephesians 4:12) and so we celebrate, on All Saint's Day, the blessed saints throughout time, both in our congregation and in the church universal, who have gone before us. Their faithfulness enables us to worship in a sanctuary that we did not build and to continue their ministry beyond their lifetime and so we give thanks to God for their witness among us. If there is a Saint that you wish to recognize on All Saint's Day please contact Dil or George at 404.292.8212.
In anticipation of that heavenly banquet!
George

PASTOR GEORGE'S 2ND YEAR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Our Pastor's Anniversary is a wonderful time to celebrate another year of faithful ministry and offer special thanks to God for His faithfulness to MDPC. George has modeled unselfish service to, and with our congregation, as well as the community, and we thank God for him.
First Thessalonian's 5:13-14 instructs us "to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work." Ephesians 4:11-12 tells us that God gave the Church pastors and other ministry leaders "to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up."
On Sunday, November 4, we will honor and demonstrate our genuine appreciation for our Pastor. Think of ways to do so throughout the week and on the morning; and come to a special extended, "Anniversary Snak n Yak" in the Donnell Building immediately after worship. Please call Marva (404) 293-0808 if you are able to donate a dish for the table. |
