Elite Daily Features Feeding Pets of the Homeless

Genevieve and Renee see no end to the work they're doing, and that only serves as motivation to continue. As Renee said when we spoke with her,  "Homelessness is never going away; there will always be someone that needs our help."

Feeding Pets of the Homeless is proud and our gratitude is immeasurable to have been featured in Elite Daily's Insights on March 30, 2016.  It was an unforgettable experience having the Elite Media crew visit us here in Nevada.  Thank you Elite Daily for sharing our mission!

Willy

Pets of the Homeless received a call from a homeless woman who stays in a motel in North Carolina. She had lost her home due to foreclosure. She is working two part time jobs just to keep a roof over her head. Her 12-year old neutered male Cocker Spaniel Labrador mix, Willy was limping on his left hind leg and was very itchy.
Willy
POTH approved an examination. The Dr. suspected a torn ACL, and also recommended a blood panel and urinalysis. It was also noted that Willy was overweight so they recommended to Willy's guardian to decrease his daily food intake by ½ cup so that he would have less weight on his leg.
Willy was matted so badly that a complimentary medicated bath was given and the matts were shaved. They noticed a few raised dermal masses, but not a concern.  Willy's vaccinations were updated and he was admistered pain medication and antibiotics. We approved a recheck request for 2 - 4 weeks.
Upon the recheck, stones were noted in Willy's urinalysis. The veterinarian administered more antibiotics at no charge and also referred Willy to a specialist to repair the ACL tear. We approved additional funds for surgery should she be able to obtain assistance from other organizations for the surgery.
    Yohan

Yohan
Pets of the Homeless recently helped Yohan, a 2-year old male retriever mix who had burns. His homeless guardian stays in a tent in a riverbed in Southern California. An ember caught his tent on fire and Yohan would not leave until his guardian woke up.
Yohan suffered burns on his face and rear. Pets of the Homeless approved an examination. POTH provided assistance to have Yohan's burned areas shaved and cleaned up. He was given a pain injection, antibiotics and burn spray for continued treatment.
Taking it to the Streets with Lori and Shira received donations to put Yohan and his guardian up in a motel for 4 nights while he was recovering.

 Yohan saved
 his guardian's life
and is a true hero!

"You saved my pet's life!"

Pets of the Homeless' Founder, Genevieve Frederick is proud to have been featured in the "Meet Inspiring People!" section of  the Woman's World Magazine March 21, 2016 issue.

From the article...One day, Genevieve was making a drop-off when a woman rushed over, her eyes shining with tears.

"Thank you for helping me take care of my baby!" she cried.

...Tears welling in her own eyes, Genevieve smiled.  And she wanted to do more.  So Pets of the Homeless (PetsoftheHomeless.org) a nonprofit to provide not only food but also free veterinary care, including spaying and neutering, was created.
