"A cat has absolute emotional honesty:
human beings, for one reason or another,
may hide their feelings, but a cat does not."

Junior

A veteran who lives in a shelter, in Largo, Florida called regarding his 7 month old puppy "Junior" who he thought had a broken front leg. He said Junior was playing and might have stepped in a hole, and was not putting weight on it.   He made him a homemade splint.
Pets of the Homeless paid for an examination, a pain injection, x-rays, medications and a cast. Junior was diagnosed with a radial fracture.   The veterinarian wanted to recheck Junior and do another x-ray in 30 days. There is evidence of bad blood flow in smaller breeds but potential of the plate growing back together because Junior is so young.
Junior's guardian called and said, "Thank you, there are kind people out there that want to help us and our dog. Thank you Jesus, thank you so much."

Junior started chewing off part of his cast.   Pets of the Homeless assisted with a recheck and it turned out a sore had developed underneath it.    We assisted with shaving and cleaning up the sore, antibiotics, applying a new cast and an e-collar.
Pets of the Homeless provided assistance with a final recheck and x-ray and Junior's leg is healing nicely.

Pets of the Homeless along with Galena Veterinary Hospital's Dr. Ford and staff  vaccinated and provided basic examinations for 12 cats and 47 dogs  at the Project Homeless Connect event at the Reno Event Center on January 26th.  A few pets who were ill were referred to POTH emergency care program and were treated in the days after the event for issues such as hernia, ear infections and infected teeth extractions.

Project Homeless Connect connects local people and families with free services such as pet care, medical and dental care, disability services, veteran support, haircuts, job resources, housing resources and legal services.  Included  were food and coffee, a Mammovan, SNAP benefits, giveaways and much more.

Thank you to Dr. Ford and his staff as well as our gracious volunteers for your help in making this event a success!
