Trouble
POTH received a call from a homeless man who lives in a garage with no power or running water in OR with his kitten, Trouble.   Trouble was attacked by a dog and his leg bone was protruding from the skin. The veterinarian had to amputate Trouble's leg. POTH contributed the maximum benefit allowable to assist with the cost of an exam, x-ray, leg amputation, hernia surgery and an e-collar.
Rain's homeless owner is a male who washes windows and lives in his car in the Southern CA area. Rain is a 9-year old female miniature pinscher who had been diagnosed with pyometra and needed surgery ASAP. Pyometra is a uterine infection, though it is most commonly known as a disease of the unaltered female dog.  POTH paid for an examination, a CHEM panel, bloodwork and x-rays. The FACE Foundation assisted with the remainder of Rain's surgery and treatment.
Rosco
A homeless man and woman who live in their camper in Southern CA had three 12-week old pit bull puppies who were coughing and very lethargic. POTH paid for examinations for the pups and all three were diagnosed with worms. In addition, Rosco had pneumonia and had to be hospitalized. He was administered iv fluids, Vitamin B12 and antibiotic injections. POTH also paid for x-rays, dewormer meds, and special food for Rosco.
