Dine with Your Dog All Winter Long

Wild River Grille in Reno donating a portion of checks to Pets of the Homeless

During October 2014 through March 2015, Wild River Grille, at 17 S. Virginia Street, Reno, NV invites folks to dine with their dog on the heated patio all winter. Ten percent of your check will be donated to the national nonprofit Pets of the Homeless. Details: 775-284-7455 or www.wildrivergrille.com

Genevieve Frederick, Founder of Pets of the Homeless said, "Wild River Grille has been a huge supporter of a number of animal nonprofits in the Reno area. We are proud to have been selected as their nonprofit of choice for a few months this winter. The proceeds will be used to provide veterinary care to pets of the homeless at free wellness clinics as well as emergency veterinary care. Over 11,200 pets have been treated since 2008."

In addition to wellness clinics and emergency care the 478 collection sites of Pets of the Homeless have taken over 600,000 pounds of pet food and supplies to homeless shelters, food banks and soup kitchens across the country. The need is great for communities to continue to donate to this on-going effort.

Emergency Veterinary Care

Pocket is a wired hair terrier that lives with her owner in a car. When her owner opened the car door she failed to stay and the door caught her in the hip. She required surgery to pin her fractured hip.

Koda has a huge gash on her front leg. She lives with her owner on the streets. Surgery was needed.

Beowolf was not feeling good. Homeless owner was very worried. He tested positive for Parvo and is currently being treated.

Mission Free Clinic

Can you just imagine a free veterinary clinic for those in need happening on a weekly basis? It's true and happens in Spokane, Washington. The Mission Free Veterinary Clinic provides basic veterinary care to help with the pets of homeless and people in transition with pets.

Dr. Tucker has been providing such clinics since 1998. Her caring dedication serves as an example of what one person with a dream can accomplish.

Genevieve Frederick, Founder/Director of Pets of the Homeless, said, "We were more than happy to
provide a grant to help defray costs for this selfless outreach. The clinic has received three grants from Pets of the Homeless since 2010.

They do their work at the Union Gospel Mission for Men in Spokane, WA on Wednesdays, 9:30 - 11:30am each week.

It's that time again! Pets of the Homeless is having it's 3rd Quarter Drawing on October 5th, 2014. Please mail, email or fax in your donation tracking sheets before the deadline. You could win a $50 Starbucks gift card.

Give a Dog a Bone And Fill a Pickup with Pet Food at Michael Hohl's in Carson City

During October, Michael Hohl Motor Company will be holding a pet food drive to fill a pickup truck in Carson City, NV. All pet food and pet supplies will be delivered to FISH at the end of the month. Stop by Michael Hohl's showroom at 3700 S. Carson Street. Michael Hohl is celebrating their 30th year anniversary.
