"I made friendships at LACHSA that continue to this day, and are stronger than ever. Most of these friendships are with people who from the outside are totally unlike me; we disagree on almost everything from politics to religion to cultural norms. I distinctly remember MANY times throughout high school where we would argue...but at the end we came out of these philosophical debates only respecting each other more."
Congratulations to Emily Martinez VA/14 who is the first recipient of the LACHSA Alumni Network's Joe Gatto Scholarship award. Emily is a dedicated and talented artist who's also compassionate and a true supporter of her peers. This fall she will continue her artistic studies at California Institute for the Arts for experimental animation.
