Historical Tidbit:

The maintenance of a good family,
April 1st 1866

"From the family are the issues of all good or evil, success or defeat.

The Maintenance of good family government at home will ensure good scholars at school.

Govern at home they will, b
ut where the children
be most insubordinate
and disorderly pupils in
school, and the parents
who maintain no family government will be most capricious and the most unreasonable in their treatment and judgment of a teacher.  It has been justly  said 'that a large proportion of the punishments inflicted on children at school would justly fall upon the parents, whose neglect, or ignorance of what constitutes a parent's duty, has entailed upon the child perverse and disrespectful habits,' says:  Gen. N.P. Banks."

 Support TJ 2 !

The BR robotics team, TJ-squared, is doing very well this year so far already!  It is looking favorable that they will be invited to the district championship in Hartford, CT, and if so, they will have a very good chance of qualifying to go to the world championship in St. Louis in April.  Although our students and families have worked very hard to raise money, it has been very difficult to sustain our team, without a corporate sponsor the past year or two.  A group of current parents & alumni students & parents, have established a non-profit group, Friends of TJ2 Robotics, Inc., but at this point, we still have not been able to attract any major contributors.

As a result, a GoFundMe has been set up: www.gofundme.com/tj2frcteam88

If anyone can donate, large or small, your donation will be tax deductible and will certainly help us reach our goal.  We will be most appreciative of any help.  And just as important, if you would be willing to share this post on your Facebook page, and otherwise spread the word, we would be most grateful. You never know who might have a soft spot in their hearts (and wallets) for an amazing program for teenagers!  Thanks in advance.

Raynham Senior Center, located at 2215 King Philip Street and built in 2000, had substandard asphalt shingles used in its construction.  Those asphalt shingles are now in need of replacement.  Attached is the scope of work and specifications for the project.
Potential bidders may view the roof at any time prior to submission of a bid.  The contact for any technical questions concerning the roof repair is Building Commissioner Robert Iafrate, whose office is located at 558 South Main Street (Raynham Town Hall).  His office phone number is 508-824-2708.
Project is being bid under MGL c. 149 Building Construction Contracts.  Because the contract is estimated to be worth under $25,000, the following items are not required:  DCAM certification, filed sub-bids, bid deposit, payment bond, and performance bond.
Prevailing wage rates will apply and the rate for roofers is attached.  Full list is available by emailing rbuckner@town.raynham.ma.us .  Certified payrolls will be required to be submitted on a weekly basis.

Bid submission requirements:
  • Price bid sheet
  • Non-Collusion form
  • References, specifically a list of all similar projects completed in the last two years (at a minimum), including contact names and telephone numbers.  A bid may be rejected on the basis of one or more references reporting poor past performance by the bidder.

  • Sealed bids are due Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at 2:00 PM at the Raynham Town Hall, Board of Selectmen's Office, 558 South Main Street, Raynham, MA  02767 and should be clearly marked as "Senior Center Roof Bid."
A bid may be withdrawn at any time up to the deadline by submitting a written request.
Project will be awarded to the responsible and responsive bidder offering the lowest price on the base bid..
Project must be completed within 120 days of the execution of the contract. Valid commercial general liability insurance certificate naming the Town of Raynham as a third party insured will be required when the contract is executed as well as proof of worker's compensation insurance and other documentation normally required to obtain a building permit.
The Town of Raynham reserves the right to reject any and all bids if it is in the best interest of the town to do so.

"I am dead because I lack desire,
I lack desire because I think I possess.
I think I possess because I do not try to give.
In trying to give, you see that you have nothing.
Seeing that you have nothing, you try to give of yourself.
Trying to give of yourself, you see that you are nothing.
Seeing that you are nothing, you desire to become;
In desiring to become, you begin to live."
