Hallie Ephron to Speak at Bridgewater Public Library on April 5th

Inspired by Hollywood and Hitchcock, Hallie
comes to the Bridgewater Public Library on April 5 to talk about her new suspense novel, Night Night, Sleep Tight.
The New York Times bestselling author will talk about growing up in Beverly Hills in a family of writers.  Her new book is inspired by an infamous murder that took place around the corner from her childhood home.
Set in 1960's Hollywood, her book draws on her parents' experience in the movie business.  Henry and Phoebe Ephron wrote screenplays for classic movies like Carousel and Daddy Long Legs.  Hallie was the last of their four daughters (Nora, Delia, Hallie, Amy) to start writing or, as she calls it, succumb to her genes.
Hallie is the author of nine novels.  Night Night, Sleep Tight is her fourth novel to be named a finalist for the prestigious Mary Higgins Clark Award.  It received a starred review in Publishers Weekly ("Old Hollywood glamour, scandals and lies infuse this captivating thriller").  Christina Baker Kline (The Orphan Train) calls it "Taut, tart and absorbing."

 Support TJ 2 !

The BR robotics team, TJ-squared, is doing very well this year so far already!  It is looking favorable that they will be invited to the district championship in Hartford, CT, and if so, they will have a very good chance of qualifying to go to the world championship in St. Louis in April.  Although our students and families have worked very hard to raise money, it has been very difficult to sustain our team, without a corporate sponsor the past year or two.  A group of current parents & alumni students & parents have established a non-profit group, Friends of TJ2 Robotics, Inc., but at this point, we still have not been able to attract any major contributors.

As a result, a GoFundMe has been set up:   www.gofundme.com/tj2frcteam88

If anyone can donate, large or small, your donation will be tax deductible and will certainly help us reach our goal.  We will be most appreciative of any help.  And just as important, if you would be willing to share this post on your Facebook page, and otherwise spread the word, we would be most grateful. You never know who might have a soft spot in their hearts (and wallets) for an amazing program for teenagers!  Thanks in advance.

Chris Setterlund Speaks
Monday, April 11, at 6:30 pm
                       Bridgewater Public Library

Chris Setterlund is coming to speak on his recently released book,
In My Footsteps:  A Traveler's Guide
 to Martha's Vineyard.

For centuries, Martha's Vineyard, the Massachusetts island off the coast of Cape Cod, has attracted everyone from celebrities and presidents to everyday folks seeking a respite from the busier pace of the mainland.  This travel guide takes you on a complete tour around the island, showcasing more than 75 locations.  A mix of quaint charm and stunning natural beauty gives the Vineyard a truly unique allure.  Historic homes, lighthouses, renowned restaurants, and miles of pristine beaches are only the starting points for the wonders that have made this island of not quite 100 square miles a coveted vacation spot.  Through clear and concise directions, including addresses, distances, and GPS coordinates, this unique guide whisks you around the island, stopping at both must-see popular spots and lesser-known hidden gems treasured by the locals.
Chris is a 12th generation Cape Codder with some famous names from the area decorating his family tree.  His vivid descriptions and crisp photos help paint pictures for the reader, making them feel as if they are walking in his footsteps.

The event, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Bridgewater Public Library, is free and open to the public will include a book signing.

"I am dead because I lack desire,
I lack desire because I think I possess.
I think I possess because I do not try to give.
In trying to give, you see that you have nothing.  Seeing that you have nothing, you try to give of yourself;
Trying to give of yourself, you see that you are nothing. Seeing that you are nothing, you desire to become;
In desiring to become, you begin to live."

The Friends of the Bridgewater Public Library (FOL)  are looking for new board members!

Meeting:
Monday, April 11, at 6:30 pm

upper view of library golf course
FOL has been incorporated for 42 years.  Over the past 10 years, the patrons have helped the FOL raise an average of $19,000 a year.   These funds have been raised through our annual membership drive and other events and sales throughout the year.
The current members of the FOL board are resigning their positions effective June 30, 2016, to allow for a new board to take over the reins of this important community fundraising group.  They have enjoyed their tenure and have made some wonderful friends.
In the absence of a new board, the Friends of the Bridgewater Public Library
will cease to exist on
June 30, 2016.
The following positions for the Friends of the Bridgewater Public Library will need to be filled for the Friends to continue:
    President
    Vice President
    Treasurer
    Secretary
    Fundraising
    Membership
    Publicity

The current board invites any interested parties to attend our next board meeting on Monday, April 11, 2016, 6:30 pm, at the library.  The current bylaws and roles of the board will be explained.  Please contact Rebecca McGrath at 508-697-5193 for further information.

Thank you for your support.
