It's our pleasure to introduce you to a new EB Business!
Tatami is an East Bridgewater Fab Find!

Nestled in a small plaza on route 18, just north of Forge Pond, Tatami is a cozy Japanese restaurant brimming with tempting aromas and tasty creations.  Recognizing a need for Japanese cuisine on the South Shore, Zhi and his wife Deng opened Tatami Restaurant and Sushi Bar in 2014.  Their creative dishes and consistent quality have gained them quite a following.

From sushi to tempura to chicken wings, Tatami has something for everyone.  They offer amazing lunch specials that include miso soup and salad.  The maki rolls are well-prepared and offer dozens of complex combinations in a variety of raw, cooked and vegetable choices.  They also have non-sushi classics like sesame chicken, fried rice, and crab rangoon.
In fact, crab rangoon wasn't on the original menu, but customers requested them so often that Zhi contacted his uncle (owner of a Chinese food restaurant on the North Shore) for a recipe.  After some adjustments, crab rangoon was added to the menu and has become a customer favorite.
They have a welcoming staff, great food and owners that give their customers what they want.  Enjoy!

Postcard c/o Margaret Alexander

In the early 1900s, an East Bridgewater resident would walk, bicycle, take a horse, train or trolley.  The trains and trolleys made it easy to get to the many industries and mills in EB and surrounding towns.  On Sunday afternoons, many families would travel on them to the ocean or nearby lakes and parks.

SENIOR LEARNING NETWORK COMES TO THE EAST BRIDGEWATER COUNCIL ON AGING!!

Franklin D. Roosevelt Presentation
Monday, March 21st, @ 3:00 pm
Who says learning is just for kids?  The East Bridgewater Council on Aging is excited to join the Senior Learning Network and become the 2nd presentation center in the Northeast!  Senior Learning Network facilitates lifelong learning programs via interactive video conferencing.  Participants have the opportunity to "meet" with presenters from all over the country.  Interested in the Grand Ole Opry, the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame, the Smithsonian or NASA?  These are just some of the more than 500 program offerings available.

Our first presentation will be:  Franklin D. Roosevelt - America's 32nd President  This is an introduction to Franklin D. Roosevelt through the context of the challenges he faced and the contributions he made to the world in his time as well as our own.  The focus is on his sense of confidence, his commitment to public service, his battle to overcome the effects of polio, his creation of the New Deal, his leadership in World War II, and his role in creating the United Nations.  30-45 minutes.
Presented by a representative live from the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library & Museum in New York.  We are excited about the Senior Learning Network and hope that this will be the first of many live presentations from all over the world!  Please call the COA at 508-378-1610 to sign up!

Adopt-A-Highway provides excellent marketing exposure, daily.  Signs reach consumers on-the-go and in the marketplace.  Here's why:
  • It is more affordable than traditional media such as radio and newspaper.
  • Located on primary traffic arteries, signs are visible to drivers, commuters and long distance travelers.
  • Sponsorship marketing can bring your message to a local audience and impact your customers where they live, work and play.
  • Logo signage provides exposure where other formats of advertising cannot be found.

Planning for Medicare-
Countdown to 65
Thursday, March 24th, 2:00 pm
EB Council on Aging

Planning for Medicare-Countdown to 65 is a comprehensive seminar that helps people approaching Medicare eligibility to understand their health insurance options outside of employer-sponsored coverage, whether they are planning to retire or continuing to work.  Many employees need help understanding the coverage options available to them when they approach Medicare eligibility.  This is especially true for employees who plan to retire and are leaving employer-sponsored coverage.  For these employees retirement may be the first time they do not have a Human Resources representative coordinating, explaining, and negotiating a rate for their health plan premium.  The Planning for Medicare-Countdown to 65 seminar allows attendees to gain the confidence they need to make an informed decision about their individual health coverage options.  Planning for Medicare is a presentation and discussion led by a Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Massachusetts representative.  The topics will include:   An explanation of Medicare Parts A and B Medicare enrollment timeline,  Medigap plans that help supplement Medicare coverage, Medicare Advantage plans, such as HMOs and PPOs, Medicare Part D prescription drug plans, Plans and programs available to early retirees, such a COBRA.  Please call the COA at 508-378-1610 to sign up for this presentation.

How to Spot Skimming Devices Monday, March 14th @ 1:00 pm
EB Council on Aging

What is Skimming?  Skimming is a method used by criminals to capture data from the magnetic stripe on the back of an ATM card.  Devices used are smaller than a deck of cards and are. often fastened in close proximity to, or over the top of, the ATM's factory-installed card reader.   Robin Putnam, Research and Special Projects Manager from the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, will present Consumer University with a focus on credit card skimming devices.  The presentation will include information about the Office as well as tips on how to spot skimming devices found at gas stations, ATMs, and cash registers.
