We welcome a visit from South Shore Bank's President and CEO Mr. James Dunphy on October 7 from 10-11:30am at a Meet, Greet & Eat at their branch at Carriage Crossing.  It's not everyday we get to meet with the president of a bank.
Pictured: Mr. Dunphy, visiting an EB school when SSSB donated $1,000 towards technology in our schools.

Mr. Dunphy was named South Shore Bank's President and CEO on July 1, 2015. He had joined South Shore Bank as Executive Vice President in January 2014, after serving as President and CEO of Hampshire First Bank.

Historical Tidbit:

Do you know your East Bridgewater Villages?

Village, noun - a settlement, usually larger than a hamlet and smaller than a town; an incorporated minor municipality.
Our geography here couldn't support large-scale farming, so villages had a more compact design than other colonies of early America.  The essence of each village was centered around the particular commercial / industrial goods it produced.  Homes were close together and each village had its common areas such us a meeting house, woodlands and pasture land.  It's here we find, still to this day, our unique tight-knit community bond . The term "village" is often interchanged with, "localities, districts, neighborhoods or sections".
East Bridgewater villages are: Beaver, Brown's Crossing, Cinder Hill, Curtisville, Eastville, Elmwood (formerly Joppa) , Harmony, Matfield, Northville, Satucket, West Crook, Westdale, Westlake.

of  Roald Dahl's "The Witches"
Friday, September 25, & Saturday, September 26, from 7-9pm
 St. Joseph the Worker Church
 1 Maquan Street, Hanson

Join with Artists From Suburbia (new EB Community Theater)
Directed by Andrew Child
Interested performers should prepare 30 seconds - 1 minute of a monologue of their choosing and be prepared to learn a brief movement combination and read from the script.

Artists from Suburbia, a new collective that strives to put the "community" back into community theatre is looking for a group of eight talented actors/ clowns/ puppeteers of any age or ability to tell the delightfully wacky story of The Witches adapted by David Wood through dialogue, creative movement, and puppetry.

Rehearsals will (tentatively) be held on Mondays 7-9pm, Thursdays 7-9pm, and Sundays 1-4pm in Brockton, Massachusetts (just over the Whitman town line). However, the full cast will not be expected to attend all rehearsals.  Any additional dates and times may be worked out to incorporate everyone's schedules.  Tech week will begin on Sunday, November 15.

Performances will be at The Center at Sachem Rock in East Bridgewater on Friday, November 20, at 7pm; Saturday, November 21, at 7pm and Sunday, November 22, at 2pm. Performances will be free and open to the public.

This production is being graciously funded by the East Bridgewater Cultural Council.  We hope you will join us and become a part of our premier production!  Please feel free to email artistsfromsuburbia@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.

Goldfinch & Sunflowers - Mary Wright Julius

Hidden Hummingbird - Mary Wright Julius

"I love to watch the birds and butterflies that come to the late-summer garden. Flocks of grackles fill the trees and empty the feeders every day as they get ready to journey South. The hummingbirds are gathering nectar from the bee balm and the butterfly bush is a favorite of the black swallowtail. The yellow goldfinches are busy pulling every seed from the sunflowers. Occasionally, the cooper's hawk shows up at the feeders and all the birds scatter until he leaves. September is a time of transition, of preparing for colder weather and the first frost, and the birds know it's coming."

Thank you, Mary, for sharing these beautiful captures of life!
"Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity."
~ George S. Patton

"You won't change anything significant in the world if you try to be like it. Change comes when you do something different."
Shannon L. Alder
