Goldfinch & Sunflowers - Mary Wright Julius

Hidden Hummingbird - Mary Wright Julius

"I love to watch the birds and butterflies that come to the late-summer garden. Flocks of grackles fill the trees and empty the feeders every day as they get ready to journey South. The hummingbirds are gathering nectar from the bee balm and the butterfly bush is a favorite of the black swallowtail. The yellow goldfinches are busy pulling every seed from the sunflowers. Occasionally, the cooper's hawk shows up at the feeders and all the birds scatter until he leaves. September is a time of transition, of preparing for colder weather and the first frost, and the birds know it's coming."

Thank you, Mary, for sharing these beautiful captures of life!

Old East Bridgewater Methodist Church

This Methodist Church burned to the ground in 1903 when a spark from the foundry set several buildings in the down town area on fire.
A new one was built by 1904.

By 1900, with a population of 3,025, most people in East Bridgewater were active in one of the five churches:
The First Parish Unitarian, Union Congregational, United Methodist, St. John the Evangelist Catholic, and Elmwood New Jerusalem (Swedenborgian) Church.

Benefit Concert for The Wounded Warrior Project

It's A Gift
It's A Gift
Admission: $20.00

Born in HamiltonOntario, to parents of Nova Scotian descent, Garnet Rogers spent many hours in front of the old floor model radio listening to Grand Ol' Opry broadcasts and harmonizing with his brother, the late folk legend Stan Rogers. Since then, Garnet has established himself as a formidable solo artist. His music, like the man himself, is literate, passionate, highly sensitive,
and deeply purposeful.

Speaking of Purpose, proceeds from this event will be donated to benefit
The Wounded Warrior Project:
  • To raise awareness and enlist the public's aid for the needs of injured service members.
  • To help injured service members aid and assist each other.
  • To provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members.

EB HOPE Candlelight Vigil
Thursday, September 17, at 6pm
Town Common
(Rain Date Sept 24)

The vigil is held in memory of those who have lost their lives due to drug and alcohol related incidents and those suffering from the disease of addiction. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, there were 28,000 drug-related deaths nationwide last year.

"The key to drug prevention is community awareness," said Susan Silva, the Vigil chairwoman of EB's HOPE. "The misuses of alcohol and illicit drugs are well documented, but few realize the immediate and long-lasting consequences from even a minor miscalculation with prescription drugs."
Please join us.  All are welcome.

Auditions for a Community Theater Production
of  Roald Dahl's "The Witches"

with Artists From Suburbia (new EB Community Theater)
Directed by Andrew Child

Friday, September 25, and Saturday, September 26, from 7:00-9:00
 St. Joseph the Worker Church
1 Maquan Street in Hanson, Massachusetts

Interested performers should prepare 30 seconds - 1 minute of a monologue of their choosing and be prepared to learn a brief movement combination and read from the script.

Artists from Suburbia, a new collective that strives to put the "community" back into community theatre is looking for a group of eight talented actors/ clowns/ puppeteers of any age or ability to tell the delightfully wacky story of The Witches adapted by David Wood through dialogue, creative movement, and puppetry.

Rehearsals will (tentatively) be held on Mondays 7:00-9:00, Thursdays 7:00-9:00, and Sundays 1:00-4:00 in Brockton, Massachusetts (just over the Whitman town line). However, the full cast will not be expected to attend all rehearsals.  Any additional dates and times may be worked out to incorporate everyone's schedules.  Tech week will begin on Sunday, November 15.

Performances will be at The Center at Sachem Rock in East Bridgewater on Friday, November 20, at 7:00; Saturday, November 21, at 7:00; and Sunday, November 22, at 2:00. Performances will be free and open to the public.

This production is being graciously funded by the East Bridgewater Cultural Council.  We hope you will join us and become a part of our premier production!  Please feel free to email artistsfromsuburbia@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.
