  Historical Tidbit:
   plymouth county map

The industrial growth and influx of people in the early 1800's made Bridgewater a very large community.

Officially one town, it had 4 distinct divisions.

In November 1821, Town meeting voted to " be expedient to divide the town of Bridgewater into four townships that each parish become a township and the bounds thereof be the same as the present parish lines."

In the spring of 1823, the residents of the East Parish made a formal application for incorporation as a town and it was approved.

On June 14, 1823, the Town Of East Bridgewater was formed.
