The "Say Goodbye to 25i Walk"
Sponsored by Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) at EB High was a huge success.  It raised awareness among our students and money for a scholarship in Emily Miller's name.

"25i is a drug that is similar to, but over 1000x more potent than LSD," according to the SADD pamphlet.  "A single dose can lead to seizures, multiple organ failure and death."
It seems to be marketed toward children, as it is distributed on colorful pieces of paper, often with cartoons on it.

Alex Frazier & Bonnie White, SADD Advisors

On June 21, 2014, an EB 15 year old; Emily "Tootsie" Miller passed away.  It is suspected that she only ingested $5 worth of 25i.   Our school and students miss her shining face and unique outlook on life and supported this walk in her memory.

All donations to this event support the EB Multimedia Emily "Tootsie" Miller Scholarship Fund.  For more information contact Alex Frazier or Bonnie White.

Historical Tidbit:   Central Street East Bridgewater

With summer here, we notice our beautiful tree lined streets.
Here is a picture of Central Street from the early 1900's.
It is a view as if you were walking down the hill where Central School is
on your left and Central Cemetery on your right - most of these trees were lost in the hurricane of  1938.

The History of Memorial Day
memorial_day11.jpg

Memorial Day, an American holiday observed on the last Monday of May, honors men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, at least, it marks the beginning of summer.

Letter From The New Superintendent to our Townspeople

viking

Vikings,

It is with overwhelming pride that I take the helm of the East Bridgewater School District!  I look forward to meeting with the entire community in the upcoming days.  I know it is difficult to see the trees through the forest.  However, I ask that you keep an open mind and stay patient as we traverse this terrain.
Times of change are times of opportunity.  When the relationships of people and things are shifting, creating new needs and desires offer new possibilities. I ask you to keep your eye on those who grab openings and do something with them.
Most people fear and abhor conflict. But if you are a leader of any group or inspire to a leadership role, you find yourself thrust into situations where battle is inevitable-if not physical, then psychological and emotional battle.  Facing such challenges with strength and equanimity is a must.  That is what I bring to the table for the district of East Bridgewater.
I want to thank Mrs.Gina Williams for navigating the rough seas during my transition.  I look forward to collaborating with all teachers and staff.  But my most excitement lies in my getting to know the student population.  I already have a date with Mrs.  DeLorenzo's, 2nd grade class to discuss their written stories of favorite things and after listening I will take them to Skinners, ice cream parlor for well-deserved snack (for me too).
Again, I'm humbled to be your leader and if there is anything I can do for you, please do not hesitate to stop by or call me at 508-378-5956 and set up an appointment.

With Viking Pride,
Elizabeth L. Legault, Superintendent of Schools

5:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. CATS
6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. DOGS

**If you have both a cat and dog then please come at 5:45 p.m.
We ask that all dogs are on leashes and that cats are leashed in a carrier.  The clinic is done outdoors and if the vet has to open the cat carrier there is a chance the cat will run, so the leash is extra protection.  Please do not bring feral cats. In order to receive a 3 year vaccination you must provide proof of last vaccination, otherwise a 1 year vaccination will be given.
*Dog Licensing will also be available

We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look
Behind from where we came
And go round and round and round
