Historical Tidbit :
The iron works were the dominant industry in the town for more than two centuries. The importance that was attached to iron works is apparent from the town seal which depicts the iron works along with the date 1652. The Raynham iron works were not the oldest in the state.
Iron works in Lynn, Saugus and Braintree were started prior to those in Raynham. However, the iron works in Raynham have the distinction of being the iron "manufactory" that was in continuous operation for the longest period of time. The iron works continued to operated in Raynham until 1873.

Summer Flick Picks
The Fault In Our Stars.
Hazel and Augustus are two adorable teens that fall in love. The sweetness of young love is felt when watching the two in the movie, The Fault In Our Stars. The movie follows the book quite closely. We are left feeling the courage and sadness of their story.
The film is rated PG and is produced by 20th Century Fox

Parent Tips For Sending Teens to College

Many families have just celebrated the milestone
achievement of High School Graduation with their teenage child. For those families with teens planning to attend college in the fall, this past year has been filled with applications, faculty recommendations, SAT/ACT exams, visits to college campuses and waiting to learn about both acceptance decisions and financial aid packages. The stress of not knowing which college the teen will attend is replaced by possible anxiety of the reality of the pending move to college and separation that accompanies that move. Now with High School Graduation over, the summer is a time for families to spend time together; connect and to discuss what this next "chapter" in the life of their family will be like. Teens look forward to more independence and autonomy and moving away from home, however, there are also questions of who will their roommate be; what will the classes really be like, keeping up with academic workloads, managing finances and doing their own laundry. Parents continue to be a vital support to their teens during this transition and there are many resources on-line to help you navigate this upcoming year. For a free video program on this topic from Harlen Cohen, author of "The Naked Roommate: & 107 Other Issues You Might Run Into in College," visit: www.nakedroommate.com . This video program has sections for both parents and teens. You are able to access the overview content and the "First Simple Rule" without sharing your email address, to view the full content you need to share your email address to obtain a password.

Controlling Ants Naturally In Your Home
Ants can build a mound quickly, and travel hundreds of feet from their mound looking for small cracks in windows, door frames and home foundations. Regardless of how clean you keep your home, the inevitable crumb will find its way into your carpet or along your baseboards--attracting ants.
Non-Toxic Ways To Get Rid of Ants: Green Home Pest Control Methods: All ants navigate by the use of pheromones. Disrupting the ants' navigation system will often result in the ants becoming lost and not able to find their way back to their colony. A colony losing large numbers in this manner, or having trouble foraging due to navigation issues, will often move to a safer area. Some common, non-toxic household substances that disrupt ant navigation and also prevent future ants from navigating through the same area are:
- Baby powder
- Chili powder
- Cloves
- Mint oil
- Simple Green spray
- Vinegar
- Cinnamon
- Pepper
These substances can be sprinkled or sprayed along baseboards, in cupboards and pantries, behind appliances, and anywhere else an individual believes ants may be crossing. None of these substances, however, will actually kill the ants. It will just frustrate them and force them to move find a more convenient home.
Ants are a common type of house pest and cheap, non-toxic ways to get rid of ants can be just as effective as expensive and more dangerous methods.
