Getting Better with Age
Moattar Antique Oushak

Moattar, Ltd's latest acquisition for our collection of antique rugs is this beautiful symmetrical all-over patterned Oushak with a gray field and blue design elements. Five small geometric medallions run lengthwise through the center of the rug enclosing alternating flower and quatrefoil designs. They are flanked on either side by six palmettes. Rosettes, boteh and other stylized design elements add additional visual interest to the field. Size is 11'3" x 15'6". Please stop in the showroom to see in person. View larger image on our website, Oushak #44671.

Did You Know...
the boteh design is a droplet shaped vegetable motif of Persian origin. It is most commonly known to us as a paisley. Resembling a twisted teardrop, the kidney-shaped paisley is of Iranian and Indian origin, but its western name derives from the town of Paisley, in West Scotland, a center for textiles where paisley designs were produced.

Sophisticated Neutral

Moattar Khotan Visual simplicity need not be boring. This reproduction Khotan rug has an orderly all-over classic rosette field pattern that provides a quiet geometric rhythm. The border is punctuated by a design of serrated leaves that complement the rosettes while creating a lively division from the main body of the rug and a definitive frame for grounding a space. Design elements are achieved with varying neutral values that create a rich palette from one hue. See a larger image in the Reproduction Gallery of our website.
