Did you know...
Aubrush is a technique by which slightly varying wool hues are used in pattern weaving to mimic the finish of antique rugs. Historically natural aubrush occurred for various reasons including the inconsistency of wool dying techniques and the nomadic nature of tribal life. When weavers ran out of a particular color of wool they would use whatever was available next. Sometimes the next color was very similar, sometimes it was entirely different. Today the technique has many benefits. It makes new rugs look old and offers a depth of hue that compliments fabrics more easily.

Our new Parker Oushak is a triumph of aubrush (see Did you know... above) grey wool in an antique reproduction pattern. Various shades of grey are masterfully woven together to create a rug that works with a range of grey fabrics. The modern color on the classic pattern is a wonderful mix of classic and contemporary.
