This is it! The year you've been waiting for has arrived. And, it will be a magical year. It will be the kind of year you've anticipated your entire life. Things will unfold in this year that heretofore you didn't think possible. The phrase 'life altering' might very well be used in your personal history book when looking back on this year.
(A quick gut check: What is your honest reaction as you read the above few lines?
Enthusiasm or Sarcasm?
Belief or Dismissal?)
It's important to know this about yourself because it will no doubt influence what truly will happen to you in the coming year.
OK, all the hyperbole aside, I believe that your life's experience has uniquely prepared, coached, and equipped you for what is about to unfold in 2014.
And, regardless of exactly what the new year has in store for you, I believe that you have the capacity and ability to absolutely flourish as a result of it.
Of course, you also have the freedom to choose NOT to flourish in 2014. You have the option to avert, divert, and dismiss every opportunity that presents itself to you this year and embrace every obstacle as 'proof' that whatever it is you seek just isn't in the cards for you.
As much as I want to believe and think in the way the first paragraph reads....my reality is that I have decades worth of habits and old mental tapes that sometimes have an incredibly strong hold on my ability to do that.
So, while I am familiar with possibility centric thinking, I sometimes struggle accessing it or keeping it top of mind when the practical realities of my life (a.k.a. obstacles) get in the way.
I have come to learn that one of the most effective ways to maintain that possibility centric thought pattern is to engage in one of three very basic energy altering activities. The kind that you very likely loved and had passion for at one time, but for whatever reason got set aside as you built your career and your life.
So as you embark on whatever near year's goals you have set for yourself, I suggest you fortify your personal energy each week by engaging in one (or more) of the following activities:
- Read Good Books- the kind that open up your mind to new thoughts and ideas.
- Play Something - a sport, a game, an instrument...anything that you deem fun.
- Create Beauty- paint a picture, knit a sweater, plant a garden.
Don't under estimate the value of these simple and what some might call frivolous uses of your limited time. If you're going to stay strong and energetically engaged enough to manifest all that is possible for you this year, you must intelligently plan for personal replenishment.
A magical and life-altering year is going to require a lot of your energy...so, manage your inventory well.
