Hello Lists relieve stress and focus the mind. "Lists," sociologist Scott Schaffer told The Oregonian newspaper recently, "really get to the heart of what it is we need to do to get through another day on this planet." The most dramatic shifts in thinking can often be ignited through seemingly simple action steps. So, within reason, it makes sense to incorporate as many simple actions steps into your approach toward achieving a goal as possible...especially when you've hit a roadblock. Here are links to a list of 'action step lists'' that caught my attention this past week: 10 Things Extraordinary People Say Every Day 9 Vital Tools for Leaders Facing Long Odds 8 Business Principles that Never Go Out of Style 7 Ways your Looks are Killing Your Career 6 Habits of Remarkably LIkable People 5 Best Times to Start a Small Business 4 Key Things Great Strategic Thinkers Do 3 Ways to Negotiate About Anything The 2 Things About Your Startup Idea That Actually Matter The Number 1 Secret to Life Success Please do not misinterpret my inclusion of the above lists today as being an endorsement of their content. I am not suggesting that these lists are anything more or less than what they are: the authors' own subjective views. They are not scientifically verifiable, they are not the most comprehensive, and they are subject to layers of interpretative biases by each reader. That said, though, I believe they can each be a powerful catalyst for personal change on their topic.
Whichever list you choose to review, there's a very good likelihood that one (or more) of the following three things will occur as you read it: 1. Something you already know will be validated
2. Some belief you hold will be challenged 3. Some new insight will be gained All three of the above have a positive energetic charge that has the potential to shift your own energy and move you into action. All three of the above are what any good coach aspires to have a client experience with each session in order to consider the time investment to have been worthwhile. You could consider lists like these to be easy, free self-coaching sessions. In the spirit of today's topic, here is one more list to consider.....'3 Steps to Change Your Day': - Articulate your challenge (I've lost my passion)
- Quantify your attention span - 1-10 ( Five)
- Find a List ( Google Search: 5 ways to reignite my passion)
Pick a list to read from the search results and see what has been validated, challenged, or revealed for you. Be mindful of any shift in energy you feel based on what you've read. Give it a try, you might be surprised at the impact this small step may have on you. Greetings! Mike
