Hello
'If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to view every problem as a nail' Abraham Maslow
Quotes can be inspirational but when it comes time for me to actually do the work needed to make some changes in my life, the practical side of me seeks out the right tools to get the job done. And, as Maslow would agree, the more tools you have in your "tool belt" the better.
Here are five powerful self-coaching tools that have been helpful in keeping me energized to hit my own personal goals. I hope that you'll find value in one or more of them as 2013 kicks into full force this week:
Tool 1: Be the Goal
Don't just articulate a goal... get sort of intimate with it. Establish in your mind what each of your five senses will experience when the goal is achieved. Invite the success into your being now, start to feel it now, and begin to BE the goal now. Try this exercise to help you jump start embracing your success today. Click this link: BE THE GOAL
Tool 2: Beware the GAIL's
We all have them, GAIL's are those internal obstacles that creep into our minds and thwart our efforts to achieve greatness. Not to be confused with external challenges to be managed, these inner voices can be deadly to our efforts to change, grow, and maximize our potential. Watch out for them, challenge them, and beat them to the ground. Review this descriptor of the four powerful inner roadblocks to success: The Four Inner Blocks: GAIL's
Tool 3: Burn the Dress
Retaining out-of-date things "just in case" carries a self-sabotaging energy that limits your potential for successful change. (Like holding on to the 'fat clothes' in the closet give you subliminal permission to regain lost weight.) Take a look at this short single-page fable about the danger of keeping things "just in case": The Peasant and Zemyne
Tool 4: Plug it In
Identify the way in which attainment of your goal is in direct alignment with your spiritual belief system. By connecting the goal to your higher power - you are more likely to not let it slip when your attention or energy is diverted. Try this exercise to help you get started: PLUG IT IN
Tool 5: Get an Accountability Coach
If you can, hire a professional coach to keep you on track and help you work through the GAIL's. Alternatively, make a deal with a friend who's in a similar situation as you and establish a monthly meet-up to hold each other accountable. Consider this offer for a complimentary coaching session to help you with this: S2K Complimentary Session
