Message from the Music Chair
The Empty Chair at Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving will soon arrive once again. Everyone will be joined around the Thanksgiving table ready for a meal. Each of us has his or her individual thoughts about the day. The guys may be thinking about the football games they have or will be watching. The children are thinking about having a few extra days from school to be with family and friends. The ladies may be thinking about how soon they will be hitting the malls and holiday shopping. All are busy thinking about their own individual wants and needs. But off to one side of the room sits an empty chair. This chair represents the one to whom we should be most thankful and who makes all things possible. This chair is for Jesus Christ. We must take the empty chair out of the corner and place it at the head of the Thanksgiving table to remember to give Him thanks for the numerous blessings provided. May each of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and may God bless and keep you throughout this Blessed Holiday Season. Dennis Arnold Walk 189 Table of Jeremiah Music Chair |
Message from the Communications Chair
Have you ever wondered about those Great Agape Letters that each walk receives from all over the country and even outside the US?
The following is from the gentleman who collects and prints all those lovely letters for each walk that the Dallas Emmaus Community has. It has been a labor of love from me to the Dallas Emmaus Community. As long as they will have me and my fingers and eyes last, I will continue to do the letters. They are uplifting to me also. Especially when I get them from European countries (Hungary, Ireland, England, etc.), the Philippines, South Africa, etc. Just recently received one from Kuwait. WOW!!!
I was touched beyond belief on Dallas Men's 17. My spirit was revived after having lost my son 2 years before. I physically felt God take the hate and pain from me. I have devoted as much time as I can to my church and Emmaus. I will continue to do so as long as I live.
It's good for the community to know what goes into those letters shared on the walk and posted on the wall. All for the glory of God.
De Colores! In His service, David Adams
That is great story of Agape Love. Those letters touch all our hearts. David has contact with hundreds of Emmaus Communities monthly. He averages sending/receiving 20 emails per week - sending to other communities on behalf the Dallas Emmaus Community. At the end of every year he makes a copy of all agape letters received and sent that year and burns them onto a CD for permanent retention. What a treasure of letters he must have for the last 14 years! He says that his agape letter ministry probably totals about $1000 per year in print cartridge and paper costs. He's happy to be able to contribute in this way and wants to continue doing that as long as he is able to.
Many thanks to David Adams and the ministry he performs for the Dallas Emmaus Community. Next time you work a walk.... you will know a little more about how those letters get there!
Happy Thanksgiving,
De Colores,
Ruth Dunn
