"Unparalleled Environmental Laboratory Services"
Allison Mackenzie
Stream Pollution Trends SPoT Monitoring Program
 By: Allison Mackenzie

As discussions around the Bay Delta Conservation Plan and bond issue become more heated, so too have the discussions about the quality of water moving throughout the state watersheds and especially through the delta system. While a constructive dialog  about our water and aquatic systems and the effects of urbanization are needed,  we have to be careful when interpreting and applying studies and data.

The second report from the Surface Water Ambient Monitoring Program (SWAMP) on Stream Pollution Trends (SPoT) Monitoring was released last month. SPoT is intended to monitor changes in watersheds over time in an effort to correlate the impact of development, the effectiveness of management programs, and the identification of at-risk watersheds requiring further management.  Please click here to read more...

 LAB NOTES

Babcock Labs is one of the premier laboratory facilities in
California for analytical testing. We offer a convenient solution to government, public agencies, and corporate clients as well as individual property owners. We provide testing for drinking water, wastewater, groundwater, storm water, and hazardous materials. Perchlorate testing, Low-Level Hexavalent Chromium testing, NDMA testing, UCMR 3 testing, and Field Sampling are just a few of the services in which we specialize.

While we want to keep you, our colleagues and clients, apprised of all our services, we also want to assist you in educating your clients and business associates.  Over the next couple of months we will be sending out information from credible sources that we hope you find useful.  If there is a topic about which you would like to learn more, please let us know and we will try to assist you.

As always, there are a variety of discussions, articles and debate about the quality of water the general public is consuming and continued skepticism that tap water is safe. The following is a consumer WATER GUIDE from our friends at the Environmental Protection Agency, please click on the cover to download the report.

IN HONOR OF EARTH DAY!

Another Earth Day celebration recently ended and Babcock Labs wants to remind you of the importance of conservation when it comes to our vital resources, in particular water.

At Babcock Labs, we support education of future scientists and encourage our youth to learn more about water and its role in our society and community.  We have included links that we encourage you to share with your own kids, teachers and community leaders who interact with children.  Please click on the image below to begin the education.
