Dharma Event Announcement

Dear Friends,

Please join us for our next Compassion in Action before the summer officially ends! We will be combining a Go Green and Animal Liberation event at the beach.

Help clean the beach with NYC H2O to care for our environment. After lunch, we will bless the creatures in the sea who will benefit temporally and ultimately from our assistance, following Lama Zopa Rinpcohe's advice for benefiting animals.

All are welcome to attend the beach cleanup and/or sea blessing!

If you have any questions
about these events, please contact us.

Love,
Your Friends at Shantideva Meditation Center

About the Compassion in Action & Go Green Event

Compassion in Action offers opportunities for Shantideva Meditation students to volunteer for social service organizations as a group. Through hands-on, shared experiences in helping, we seek to develop our capacity for compassion and generosity.

Go Green extends the compassionate activities of Shantideva Meditation Center through social activism and other activities benefiting nature and the planet. By promoting environmental health, education, and sustainability we explore the ways we can preserve and tend the world in which we live, for the benefit of all beings.

Volunteers are needed for our next Compassion in Action/Go Green project. We will assist NYC H2O in a cleanup of Plumb Beach.

NYC H2O's mission is to educate and inspire New York's citizenry about its incredible water system. NYC H20 wants to create a generation of concerned, educated New Yorkers who conserve and advocate for natural resources as part of their daily lives.

About the Animal Liberation:
Blessing the Creatures in the Sea
Lama Zopa Rinpoche blessing sea creatures in California.

Blessing animals helps move them toward enlightenment by creating positive imprints on their mindstreams. Animal liberation not only benefits animals, but the merit generated through this compassionate practice helps to create the causes of long life for ourselves, our loved ones, our teachers, and our community.

We will bless all the creatures in the Atlantic Ocean by reciting mantras over the water and submerging mantras in the sea. This beautiful ceremony also benefits the pretas (hungry ghosts), helping to stop hunger and thirst, purifying negative karma, and giving a good rebirth.

Animal liberation practices were particularly recommended for Shantideva Meditation Center by Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

You are welcome to request a prayer dedication for a beloved animal or other loved one.
