Discovering Buddhism Study Group Fifth Module: Death and Rebirth
Wednesdays: September 16 - October 28
In this module, we will explore the process of death and rebirth and its impact on how we live our lives. We will see how the Buddha's teachings can guide us in skillful reflection on the meaning of death and what to expect at the time of death. In this way, we will learn to fulfill our purpose in life, resolve conflicts, and develop the skills to help both ourselves and others at the time of death. We will investigate together such questions as:
- How can we use the practice of remembering death as a method to stop delusions?
- What are the different stages of the death process?
- What determines the kind of rebirth we will have?
We are thrilled to announce that Venerable
Death and Rebirth is one topic in the Discovering Buddhism series, an FPMT program designed to provide a solid footing in the teaching and practice of Tibetan Mahayana Buddhism.
Shantideva Meditation works with a version of FPMT's Discovering Buddhism home study program, which includes articles by lineage lamas, transcripts of teachings by qualified Western teachers, presentations by the facilitator, discussion among peers, and guided meditations.
The Discovering Buddhism Study Group series is geared for beginning students who wish to deepen their understanding of fundamental Buddhist concepts.
"The group's joyous effort, camaraderie, and friendship have energized, broadened, and advanced my practice in unexpected ways for which I'm deeply grateful."
- Discovering Buddhism Study Group student, Desmond Hosford
