We would like all to participate and hope you can pledge to recite 108 or even 100,000 Chenrezig mantras. To participate, please email us to say how many mantras you recited by August 31. For more information on the benefits of reciting this mantra, please click here.

Resources for inspiration

Need more ideas on how to practice compassion during the month of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's birthday? Here are a few, including:

  • Secret agent of compassion: Each morning choose a different person and figure out one thing that day you could do to show compassion for them.
  •

  • Give it back to the earth: There are so many ways to give back to the earth, and NYC has some of the best compost sites, recycling garbage containers on almost every street corner, and many trees and parks that would benefit from a waste-free space.
  •

  • Animals need compassion too: Limit your eating of meat or try not to eat meat for a week or a day. There are also many ways to volunteer at animal shelters and always the opportunity to smile at a dog on the street.
  •

Here is a short inspiring video about the effect of meeting His Holiness.
