A Note From Mrs. Brown
November 6, 2012
Dear ECC Families,
Welcome back from fall break. I sure love this part of my job! Not only is it a great time to travel, as most everyone else is in school, but the weather is always so pleasant, almost like an extended summer break.
We hit the ground running on Monday and jumped right into our learning goals. We, the teachers, staff and students, are reading, writing, calculating, brainstorming, mapping, processing, quizzing, testing, noting, sharing, communicating, collaborating, critically thinking, running, playing, prioritizing, researching and applying. Can you imagine why in the world we need to learn breathing and stress reduction through yoga?
Congratulations to one of our ECC Robotics Teams, the Smart Seniors. They placed 2nd in the Encinitas Qualifying Tournament this past weekend at SDA. This win means that they qualify for the Southern California Regional Tournament at LEGOLAND on December 1st. Way to go Explorers!
Coming up tomorrow night is the Dads' Club Movie Night. It is not a drop off event, so get into your comfy clothes and join your child in the ECC Auditorium for Toy Story 3. The kids love being at school for something other than academics and it builds a great sense of community for all of us. Also, take a look at our driveway entrance and the new plantings that were completed by the LCV Homeowner's Association during our break. Thanks to ECC Parent Susan Mendes for spearheading this project.
At this time of year, when thankfulness is the dominant theme, I have so much to be thankful for. I have started a new habit of writing down three things that I am thankful for every morning when I sit down with my coffee. I don't allow myself to repeat anything from day to day; it must be different each time. Today, I listed these things- the beautifully carved pumpkin that greeted me on Monday morning outside of our office, the cleanliness of our campus after two weeks of custodial elbow grease, and the sweet voice of one angelic kindergartener when I walked into her room yesterday and she shouted out "Hi Mrs. Brown, I missed you." Could life be any better?
All my best,
Carrie Brown

ECC FUND
It's not too late to DONATE to The ECC Fund! We are still far short of our annual goal of raising $100,000 for ECC's Music, Science and Technology Programs. The plain & simple truth is that our school CANNOT continue to fund our Consultants without your financial support. We need the support of every single family at ECC to make a difference. No donation is too small, every dollar counts! You can increase the impact of your contribution by making an automatic, recurring donation in any denomination. For just $20 a month over the course of the school year you can make a huge impact on our children's education.
Donation forms are available HERE and in the school office. You can also donate online through our school website at www.eusd.net by clicking on the "ECC Fund Donations" link or go directly to our online donation page at https://ecces.ejoinme.org/2012FallPledgeDrive.
SHOW YOUR ECC PRIDE ON YOUR CAR: Every ECC Family who donates $50 or more to The ECC Fund will receive an awesome El Camino Creek license plate frame. We expect to receive the frames in early October and will distribute them to each qualifying family ASAP.
If you would like to find out more about the ECC Fund or have questions or comments, please contact ECC Fund Co-Chair Lynda Wennerstrom at ldwenn2000@yahoo.com.
