The Foundations Approach to Myofascial Release Online Trainings on Medbridge Massage

First of a Dozen Short Format Videos

An easier lumbosacral traction
An Easier Lumbosacral Traction

Recently I was back in the "studio" doing another photo shoot to update some technique photos, as well as add additional content for my new 2016 Upper Body and Lower Body Foundations Seminars and had the opportunity to shoot some short videos. I've wanted to do these for a long time, as there are so many small pieces of the Foundations Approach, as well as individual techniques, which are missed by therapists taking one of my trainings. The first to be edited and captioned is one showing an alternate means to achieve lumbosacral traction in your patients. While I teach and use the "old-fashioned" approach to this, many therapists are put off by the thought of placing a hand under the sacrum and engaging the pelvis into posterior rotation. With valid concerns for proper boundaries, I have worked this alternative through a few different versions and have found the one presented in the above video one of the easiest, even with larger patients. Give it a try and leave me some feedback on YouTube!

Over the coming months I will be posting many more videos, including:
  • Sacral "drawer pull"
  • Plausible views of sacroiliac gapping
  • Step-by-step views of working the anterior cervical region
  • Occipital lift tips
  • Occipital region "bunching"
  • Intra-oral treatment
  • Tongue treatment
  • Thoracic outlet region options

Click here to view the first video and leave some feedback.

The Foundations Approach Online Trainings on the Medbridge massage platform have been well received and  the 5th and 6th trainings (of a total of 8) are about to be released. The Lumbar/Pelvic and Upper Extremity Courses are packed with great content and all include the Foundations Approach to evaluation and treatment. Feedback from therapists who have viewed these trainings has been very positive! An annual MedBridge Massage subscription is currently available for $49 using the discount code FRITZmassage.   An annual subscription provides unlimited access to all my online courses as well as courses by over a dozen of the best instructors in the massage field. CEs apply.

Here is a quick look at the third and fourth trainings:

The Anterior Cervical and TMJ Region training speaks to that deep, dark area in the front of the neck, throat, and mouth region, an area which some therapists seem scared to treat while others seem to feel that aggressive therapy is fine.  We take you into dealing with issues of neck/arm pain, sensory changes, swallowing/speech disorders, and jaw dysfunctions.

The Shoulder Region Training looks at myofascial release from the Foundations Approach perspective, adding a light, nerve-driven model of evaluation and treatment to an already effective modality.

All of our Medbridge Massage trainings include the concepts inherent in the Foundations Approach, including the Frozen Chicken concept (no, really, it is a very effective means to search out and treat areas in need of intervention).

If you haven't taken a Foundations Seminar within the past year or two, the Frozen Chicken concept describes the simple but very effective way to not only help you to locate areas in your client which may benefit from treatment, but allow you a means to assure that what you found is relevant to their pain. The concept is explained well in a new Clinical Pearl,  from the Medbridge Series titled The Feedback Loop and the Frozen Chicken. Click the link to read the Pearl and watch a short video clip of the training.
