BALCONES CANYONLANDS PRESERVE HIKES:

Travis County Balcones Canyonlands Hike at the Jollyville Unit
Saturday, March 2, 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Join Travis County Staff for an interpretive hike at the BCP tract in Jollyville (near the intersection of Boulder Lane and 620). This is approximately a 1.5 mile hike of moderate difficulty located in the heart of Golden Cheeked Warbler and Black Capped Vireo habitat. On the hike, we'll progress through the two habitat types of these endangered birds and hope to hear and see other types of wildlife.
Specific directions for the hike will be given two days in advance of the hike date.
Be sure to come with appropriate footwear (hiking boots or tennis shoes suggested; no flip-flops), pants (we will be walking through some tall grass), insect repellent, sunscreen/hat, and drinking water.
A limited number of spaces are available- therefore, hike participants must email william.burch@co.travis.tx.us to register for the hike. When emailing, be sure to designate which hike time you are signing up for.
Travis County Balcones Canyonlands Hike at Grandview Hills
Saturday, March 23, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Join Travis County Staff for an interpretive hike at the BCP tract that interfaces with the Grandview Hills community. This is approximately a 2 mile hike of moderate difficulty located in the heart of Golden Cheeked Warbler habitat. On the hike, we'll discuss the preserve/neighborhood interface, walk through Golden Cheeked Warbler Habitat, and hopefully, be able to see and hear some of the Warblers as we progress through along the hike trail.
Specific directions for the hike will be given two days in advance of the hike date.

The Hike and Lecture Series is a series of events held March through December in various parts of the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve. These hikes and lectures are delivered by all of the participating partners who manage land in the preserve system. These hikes and lectures are separate from the hikes which Travis County BCP holds regularly.
