Hey Everyone!

This weather has been amazing!  Everyone keeps asking me if they can start planting yet. My default answer is no on most things.  Our last average freeze date is around April 18 of every year.  That means we still have good chances of another frost! I won't plant any of my pots until mid/end of April, but there are things you can be doing!

Top things to be doing right now!!!
  1. Pre-emergent!!!! Put a pre-emergent on your yard to prevent future weeds from coming up.  We have 5 different options to choose from.  If you have a garden, flowerbed, or yard you want to prevent weeds in we have a product for you!
  2. Have holes?  Use Soil Mender Soil Mix to fill in any holes in your yard.  This is a great combo of Top Soil and Cotton Burr Blend!
  3. Use Activate EVERYWHERE!  Activate is a natural product that breaks down your grass clippings and thatch and turns it back into valuable nutrients for the earth.  Think of it as a 500 year old compost!  Use it in your flowerbeds, vegetable beds, and yard!
  4. Need to amend a flowerbed or the garden?  Add Back-To-Earth Cotton Burr Blend to your flower beds to help break up that hard clay! Plus it's on sale!!!
  5. Spray Horticultural Oil (Dormant Spray) on trees and shrubs to kill any pesky insects before they really start to be a nuisance!
  6. Remember to freshen up your mulch in existing flowerbeds! Mulch is a great way to hold in moisture and add a decorative look to your flowerbeds!  We have a ton of different mulches to choose from! Check Facebook for a coupon!
  7. Have Fescue or Bluegrass?  It's time to fertilize the yard!  We recommend PG 16-4-8 for this time of year.
  8. Spray Weed Free Zone now on that pesky purple flower in your yard!
  9. Time to plant onions, potatoes, asparagus, strawberries, leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower and more!
  10. Pansies are a great flower to plant right now with potential freeze chances!
  11. Check out the below list of seminars and events here at the greenhouse.  These are free to the public and a great way to learn specific knowledge!!!

If you ever get weeds in your yard and want to prevent them from coming back then make sure you  start getting into a regular habit of using a pre-emergent.  They stop seed from germinating throughout the year.  After the huge snow/rain mix we have had, weeds are already coming up like crazy!  Click here to check out the different types or pre-emergents we carry!
